DISTRIBUTION OF TABLETS FOR CLASS XII STUDENTS

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma distributed tablets for Class XII students today at a function held at Tura Government College Auditorium, Tura. Co-Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, Shri Billykid A Sangma, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Shri Ram Singh, Sub-Divisional Officer, Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, Shri Swapnil Tembe, Extra Assistant Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Dimse A Sangma, Principal, Tura Government College, Shri Terence D Marak, teachers and students attended the function. While addressing the gathering, Shri Conrad K Sangma urged everyone to do what we can do for the youth because only when the youth have the capacity then the development moves forward. Further, he stated that time is the most precious resource in the lives of people since time once lost will never return and we should realize the value and importance of time in our lives.

The Chief Minister also asserted that when he is with his cabinet colleagues he always advised them to work for the people as there is no tomorrow and should not wait for the last year to implement their schemes in their respective constituencies, he added. Further, he urged everyone to have a goal in their life so that they can become responsible citizens in future and take the state forward. Moreover, he advised the students to make use of the tablets in the right way which is beneficial to their school related learning activities and urged them to work hard by maintaining discipline and contribute to the progress and prosperity of the state in the near future. Earlier in the function, the Chief Guest distributed the tablets to the students. It may be mentioned that the tablets were distributed under the “Digital Learning Aid Scheme” for the year 2018-19 and so far about 4092 students from 48 schools of the area will be benefitted by this scheme.

BOCA JUNIORS LIFT TURA FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2018

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma said that the government is committed to enhance sporting infrastructure in the State in preparation for the upcoming National Games 2022 in Shillong as well as Tura, the co-host city. Addressing the closing ceremony of the Tura Football League 2018, the Chief Minister said, “The draft sports and youth policy is ready and will soon be passed by the cabinet. We are gearing up for the National Games and finalizing the details to host the mega event.” He informed that new stadiums, games village and other necessary infrastructure will be created to host the event. “Taking advantage of the National Games we are going to ensure that all necessary sporting facilities are created in Meghalaya which will enable promotion of various games.” He said that adequate support would be provided for development and promotion of sports in the State as per the mandate of the youth and sports policy. “Meghalaya has rich potential for promotion of sports and we would ensure that the talents are harnessed to its maximum for the advantage of the youth,” he added.

He lauded the initiative taken by the District Football Association Tura (DFA) for successfully organizing the Tura Football League for six consecutive times. “It is impressive to witness such an event in Tura. The organizers have displayed their utmost dedication to promote professional football by managing to conduct the events with limited infrastructure,” he said. Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh said in a written message which was read out stated that the event will help foster an atmosphere of healthy competition and will bring to fore new talents in the field of football. He also informed that through football the athlete can become brand ambassador of Meghalaya. Boca Juniors FC won the super division by defeating Druma Sandruma SC with 1-0 goal. The tournament began in November with matches being played in three levels – Division B, Division A and Super Division. The winner of Division B was Rongkhon Sports Association while winner of Division A was West Balalgre Club. “We face challenge and difficulty in organizing such mega events in Tura but with sheer cooperation and support from the Sports department and participating clubs, we have managed to host the event successfully for the past six years,” said Jasper P. Marak, president of District Football Association, Tura. Over 5000 crowd witnessed the event.
