PWD (ROADS) MAWPHLANG DIVISION INAUGURATED

Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Prestone Tynsong today inaugurated the Office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Mawphlang Division at Mawphlang.

Shri Prestone Tynsong in his address stated that the inauguration of the Mawphlang Division is the realisation of the long awaited dream of the people of the area. He informed that the Division is not an upgrade of the presently functional sub division but a creation of a new division and that the sub division will also remain functional.

He informed that the government after extensive deliberation had decided to create 4 new PWD Divisions at Dadenggre, Kharkutta, Mawshynrut and Mawphlang with the aim to decentralise the powers of the government and bring the government closer to the public. Shri Tynsong also informed that the PWD Shillong South Division will be shifted to Pynursla so as to control the infiltration and traffic congestion in Shillong, while also stating that the shifting of government offices to other parts of the state is an ongoing process.

The inauguration programme was also attended by Shri Eugeneson Lyngdoh, MLA, Shri Samlin Malngiang, MLA, Shri H Lamphrang Blah, MDC, Shri Sherbor Mawlong, MDC, Shri K K Mawa, Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads), Shri S Kyndiah, Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), Eastern Circle, Shri W Rilang Lyngdoh, Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Shillong South Division, members of Hima Mawphlang among others.

DISTRICT LAUNCHED OF CM CARES AND DISTRICT CONVENTION OF FRONT LINERS HELD IN EJH

To celebrate the contribution of frontlines towards improving the nutritional and health indicators of Women and Children in the District, the Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya in collaboration with the District Administration, East Jaintia Hills District, and the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society today organized a District Convention of Frontliners in Khliehriat West Playground, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat. The Minister of Social Welfare Department, Shri Kyrmen Shylla graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and launched the CM CAREs (Comfort, Assist, Respect, Empower) Scheme in the District in the presence of Shri. I.W. Ingty, IAS, Secretary to the Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya, Shri. A. Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat and Shri. D. D. Shira, MCS, Director of Social Welfare Department.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Shri. Kyrmen Shylla, Minister of Social Welfare Department informed that the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. Conrad .K. Sangma has launched the CM CAREs (Comfort, Assist, Respect, Empowerment) Scheme to financially help senior citizens, single mothers, and people with disabilities. He also stated that the Government of Meghalaya has taken steps to reduce SAM and MAM among children in the state. With the collaborative effort and hard work of the Officers of the Health Department, Social Welfare Department, Education Department, and other line departments, the state has achieved more than 90 percent of recovery of SAM and MAM among children.

Speaking on the process of rice fortification, he said that the rice was allotted by the Social Welfare Department from the Food Corporation of India FCI) and it is sent to Delhi for fortification that includes the addition of key vitamins and minerals to improve their nutritional content after which thorough testing is being done and brought back to the state for distribution through ICDS and the Anganwadi centers to the beneficiaries in every district. The minister also stressed on the importance of creating awareness to the general public on the various Government social welfare schemes which also requires the active participation of Government officers, ASHA, Anganwadi workers and community leaders. He also urged the gathering to visit the government departments and offices in the district for information regarding the various Government Schemes and benefits which they can avail.

In appreciation of the efforts made by AWW, Mini AWW, AWW Helper, the Social Welfare Minister, Shri. Kyrmen Shylla also announced the enhancement of incentives to the AWWs. The enhancement for the AWW is Rs. 1500, Mini AWW is Rs. 750 and for AWW Helper is Rs.500 with effect from 1st October 2022.

During the programme, the Minister of Social Welfare Department, Shri. Kyrmen Shylla distributed ID Cards to CM CAREs Beneficiaries of the District. Award for the Best Anganwadi Center was presented by the Minister to Rymbai Pompyrthad Anganwadi Centre. Field Functionaries consisting of Anganwadi worker, Anganwadi Helpers and Village Organisations in the District were also felicitated during the programme for their collaborative effort in reducing SAM and MAM.
