CHILDREN VACINATED IN RI BHOI

The District Medical and Health Officer, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that 38,035 children has availed Polio drops in the District during the 2nd round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme during February, 2007 including house to house coverage. The District Medical and Health Officer expressed his gratitude to the NGOs, headmen, health workers and parents for their cooperation for making the programme a success.

LAPANG INAUGURATED MUSIC INSTITUTE BUILDING

Chairman of Meghalaya Economic Development Council and local MLA, Dr. D. D. Lapang inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Ri Bhoi Shatei Presbytery Board of Music Institute at Mawdiangum, Nongpoh in the presence of the Pastors, Church elders and believers of the Presbytery on February 16, 2007.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang expressed his happiness to be able to associate himself with the members of the Presbytery in such a very special programme that has never been held earlier in the district. Appreciating the initiative taken by the Presbytery for its dedication in establishing the institute to cater to the need of our youths and people of the area in general, he urged upon the teachers to dedicate themselves to produce the best students perfect in their profession.

The meeting was presided over by the Moderator of the Presbytery Mr. J. S. Mynsong.

TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGN AT UMDEN

As part of the implementation of the Central sponsored scheme, the Office of the Block Development Officer, Umling C & RD Block in collaboration with the PHE Department and NGOs organized a Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) within the area of Umling Block org at Diwon, Ri Bhoi District on February 16, 2007 for the Umden area wherein Mr. C. B. Syiem MDC and E.M. KHADC was the Chief Guest. The campaign was attended by headmen and the public of the area.

Mr. Syiem in his speech urged upon the public to avail the assistance offered by the government for their own benefit and for the society as a whole. He informed that as part of starting the programme, two public latrines would be provided at Umden market and at Umden Nontluh He, further called upon the people of the area to extend their cooperation for the successful implementation of the programme.

YOG CAMP AT SHILLONG

The Chairman and members of Meghalaya Yog Science Samiti, Shillong express their gratitude to the various Government Departments who has rendered their support and cooperation for the grand success of the Yog Camp held recently at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Shillong. The Committee also extends their thankfulness to the people of Meghalaya and other states for their participation in the Yog Camp inspite of inclement weather.

It may be mentioned that the Yog Camp was conducted by Shri. Swami Ramdevji Maharaj and organized by Meghalaya Yog Science Samiti from February 6 and concluded on February 11, 2007. About six thousand people participated in the Yog Camp.
