CENSUS-2011 CM ENUMERATED APPEALS FOR PEOPLES COOPERATION IN CENSUS PROCESS

Shillong, February 13, 2011: Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the first citizen of Ampati Dr. Mukul M. Sangma was enumerated today at his residence in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner & Principal Census Officer, West Garo Hills, Mr. Sanjay Goyal and other officials, as part of the second phase of Census enumerations, 2011.

The Chief Minister had come all the way to his hometown Ampati, accompanied by his wife, for the sole purpose of participating in the census process and getting himself and his family listed.

Addressing the media after being enumerated, Dr. Sangma said, “it is very important that we reflect a correct population structure of the State, hence it is imperative that all of us come to our respective residences, take advantage of this census process and ensure that it is completed well.”

He also said that the census data is one of the most important datas in planning for the future, adding that the government should be able to project a correct figure for bringing different developmental schemes in the state and appealed to each and every citizen of the state to cooperate with the enumerators.

It may be mentioned here that the second phase of Census Operation began on February 9 last and will conclude on February 28, to be followed by a revisional round from March 1 to March 5, next.
