NOTIFICATION

Shillong, February 13, 2013: In a notification issued, the Governor of Meghalaya has reconstituted the State Level Committee to enquire into complaints regarding Sexual Harassment of Women at work places. The Committee includes the Secretary, Personnel & AR (A) Department as Chairperson, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Director of Social Welfare, President, North East Network, Dr. Rica Lamar, Director Manbha Foundation, Mrs. Y Tshering, Advocate as Members and the Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Social Welfare Department as Member Secretary.

The Committee will enquire into all complaints regarding sexual harassment of working women in any office/department of the State Government/Semi-Government Departments or any office of State Public Sector Undertakings/Private Institutions, etc., and recommend suitable action on the same.

The Member Secretary of this Committee will function as the Nodal Officer for the purpose of receipt of such complaints from the public or the Complaints Committees of various Government/Semi-Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings/Private Institutions, etc., and for placing of these complaints before the State Level Committee. The Committee will also make an annual report to the Government on all complaints received and action taken on these complaints.
