Press Release No. 35/24 10 YEARS OF RBSK OBSERVED IN NORTH GARO HILLS The office of the District Medical & Health Officer, District Health Society, Resubelpara on Tuesday celebrated the 10th anniversary of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) in the state. The programme was held at Multipurpose co-operative society Hall, Mendipathar, North Garo Hills. Speaking in the day long programme as the chief guest, NGH's Deputy Commissioner, AK Singh lauded the health department and other stakeholders for the successful completion of 10 years of RBSK in the state in general and the district in particular. Long after the inception of RBSK, the state has witnessed many healthy children which marks the effective implementation of RBSK, said the Deputy Commissioner. In line with the objective of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram to inprove the overall quality of life of children involving screening of children from 0 to 18 years for 4Ds, defect at birth, diseases, deficiencies and development delays through early detection and treatment, 4 lacs children across Garo Hills have been screened and received medical intervention. The Deputy Commissioner further urged the gathering to participate in the awareness programme and strive to maintain the set goals under RBSK. State RBSK consultant, Johnson Nongbet highlighted the activities of RBSK and DM&HO, Dr S Boro in her welcome address gave the overview of the health activities being undertaken by the office in the district. Village health council members, grassroot health workers namely ASHAs & Anganwadis, teachers and principals from various schools and officials of other line department benefitted from the programme. |
Press Release No. 36/24 TURA INDUSTRIAL FAIR 3.0 KICK-STARTS IN WGH The Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani inaugurated the Three Day Tura Industrial Fair 3.0 (TIF), at Matchakolgre LP School Playground, New Tura on 23th February, 2024. The Annual District Level Industrial Fair is being organized by the District Commerce and Industries Centre, Tura in order to encourage and promote the promising local entrepreneurs of the region and market their products. Speaking during the inaugural function, the Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani said that he is impressed by the dedication and hard work and the lovely design with the valentine's day theme which has created an exquisite aura of cheerfulness for the people. Further, he also appreciated the DCIC staff for their achievement in enrolling 2300 applications for PM Vishwakarma Scheme in the district. Stating that Tura is still in nascent economy, he said that more needs to be done for promoting local industries and utilizing this platform for entrepreneurs to network with other entrepreneurs and take it to greater heights in future. He also mentioned that Garo Hills has a high agriculture economy zone and with the intervention of the government many new agriculture infrastructure is coming up in the region and industries play a vital role in improving the quality and quantity of the products available in the area. While delivering the keynote address, the General Manager, District Commerce and Industries Centre (DCIC), Tura Don Felicient R Marak informed that the department is organizing the Tura Industrial Fair which has been renamed from the Annual District Level Industrial Exhibition and has the mandate to promote industries in respective districts. He further mentioned that industries are the backbone of progress driving economic growth, creating job opportunities and giving rise to innovations and in order to fulfill this great task DCIC is engaged in numerous activities related to promoting industries right from organizing, awareness and motivation programmes to start up entrepreneur spirit. Moreover, he said that the department provides training and capacity building programmes for tailoring, carpentry, bamboo craft, steel fabrication, etc to scientific method of apiculture, and also provides financial support through financial linkages and marketing support for sustainability of the entrepreneurs. Other Departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Sericulture and Weaving, Fishery, Community of Home Science, etc, participated, including 47 Local Entrepreneurs from the Garo Hills region have participated and displayed their products for sale ranging from locally available different food items, various wooden crafts and artefacts, cane and bamboo items, jewelry items, etc including products from weaving and handloom like Dakmandas and other accessories. Special attraction of the event will be the Live music shows by Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme (MGMP) and Kids Zone. |
Press Release No. 37/24 FELICITATION CEREMONY AT NONGPOH The Ri Bhoi District Sport Association organized a felicitation ceremony for the notable achievers who represented the district Ribhoi to the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 and Khelo India Youth Games 2024 at District Library Auditorium Hall, Nongpoh today the 13th February in the august presence of Dr M.Ampareen Lyngdoh Hon’ble Minister In-charge of Health Government of Meghalaya as the chief guest, Shri John F.Kharshiing Working President Meghalaya State Olympic Association, Shri Mayralborn Syiem MLA, Shri Charles Marngar, MLA, Shri H.M Shangpliang Ex-MLA and Adviser Education Government of Meghalaya, Shri R.Sutnga Co-chairman MIDC, Prof Donkupar War, Co-chairman Meghalaya State Planning Board, Shri R.R Kynsai Makdoh Adviser RBDSA, Shri R.B Shadap President RBDSA and others. The Ceremony was also attended by the two outstanding sports Medalists who have brought laurels to the district and the state Sr. Rose Mary Lyngdoh winner in the National Rural Games Bronze Medalist Jevelin Throw and Smt. Margareth Pathaw winner in the International Gold Medalist Arms Wrestling. About 112 sports achievers and 26 officials and have been felicitated with memento and certificate of recognition for their excellent performances by the chief guest and dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh lauded and appreciated the RBDSA for the contribution made to felicitate the sport achievers for their outstanding performances in the 5th Meghalaya Games and the Khelo India Youth Games. She extolled the Association and the Sport Department for the collective effort in ensuring the sport persons of the district achieving success. Meanwhile appealed the Sport Association of the district to keep on handhold of these young sport competitors so that to be able to enhance the quality of games for the honour and dignity of the district and the state. On the other hand, she appraised the talent shown by the participants in the Meghalaya Games at Tura, she appreciated and congratulated to all winners and urged them to remain focus, discipline themselves and also improve the skills and talents and this felicitation is a beginning towards more achievements in life. Meanwhile urged them to balance their times for games and their studies for their sustainable future. She also reminded that the state government has granted a scholarship for sport medalists and all those who have got medal in any games can apply for their benefit. Lastly, she assured to work together with the Sport Association in any challenges for the development of the youths and the district. |
