Press Release No. 39/22 CHIEF MINISTER ANNOUNCES WELFARE MEASURES AT THE EX-SERVICEMEN RALLY AT ARC, SHILLONG ON 15.02.2022 Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today attended the Meghalaya State Ex-Servicemen Rally held at Assam Regimental Centre, Happy Valley, Shillong. The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Minister, GAD, Government of Meghalaya, Sniawbhalang Dhar. The Chief Minister, during his address, said that the Ex-Servicemen Rally is an important platform that focuses on renewing the bond between serving and retired personnel, for addressing grievances for the welfare of ex-servicemen and for the felicitation of Veer Naris. He also lauded the contribution of the veterans and the serving soldiers of Meghalaya and the North-East, towards the security and prosperity of the country. During the occasion the Chief Minister announced several initiatives taken by the Government of Meghalaya for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. He further added that the Government is committed to ensure maximum support and benefit is given to the Ex-servicemen and the Veer Naris. In addition to the various initiatives announced today, the Chief Minister informed that sufficient space will be provided for the ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) Polyclinic in Tura. The Government has also sanctioned 4 Crores for the construction of the Sainik Rest House in Shillong, the work for which will start at the earliest, the Chief Minister informed. The Sainik Rest House will also accommodate the office of the Director of Sainik Welfare. During the occasion the Chief Minister also presented the Ex-gratia and Gallantry Award Winners Cheques and Gifts to Selected Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris. Air Marshal AP Singh, AVSM, SASO Eastern Air Command, Lt. Gen. K.C Panchanathan, AVSM, GOC 101 Area, Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills District, Isawanda Laloo, were among the dignitaries present at the function today. |
Press Release No. 40/22 NCC FELICITATION CEREMONY HELD ON 15.02.2022 Six NCC cadets who represented Meghalaya at the Republic Day Parade 2022 at Rajpath, New Delhi were today felicitated by the Meghalaya Governor Shri. Satya Pal Malik in a function held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong. The Governor gave away Certificates of Appreciation and cash prizes to the cadets. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Satya Pal Malik congratulated the cadets and spoke of the importance of Republic Day Camp and the NCC in nation building. He also complemented the parents and teachers f the cadets present there. A total of five boys and one girl from Shillong Gp represented the North East Region Directorate at New Delhi. Cadet Mary Milling studying in St Mary’s College, Shillong was the first cadet from Arunachal Pradesh to take part in the Republic Day Camp. She was also awarded the Director General NCC Commendation Card for her excellent performance. The ADG NCC NER Maj. General Kalita, YSM and Gp Cdr Shillong Group Brig Jai Singh Yadav, VSM were also present at the event. |
