Press Release No. 47/10 MINI INDOOR STADIUM INAUGURATED AT MAWLANGWIR Mawkyrwat, February 19, 2010: Dr. Mukul Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister, Meghalaya today inaugurated the mini indoor stadium at Mawlangwir in the presence of Mawkyrwat MLA, Shri. R Lyngdoh who is also the Chairperson of MIDC. The stadium was constructed under the SRWP scheme and EMDF of the year 2008-09. Speaking in the function, Dr. Mukul Sangma stated that sports and games has the capacity to transform the youth and generate interest among them to excel in sports and in turn sustain it. He also expressed his hope that the indoor stadium will be able to produce and mould sports person to participate not only at the state level but the national and international level as well. He urged the member of the sports clubs of Mawlangwir to make the best use of the stadium for the benefit of the youth living in the area. He also affirmed that Mawkyrwat area has got lots of potential in tourism and power therefore he urged the people to extend their support and cooperation with the government to tap these potentialities. Following the inaugural function Dr. Mukul Sangma also visited the view point at Mawlangwir and the community health centre at Mawkyrwat. |
