Press Release No. 54/24 LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY PUNJAB EMERGED AS THE BEST OVERALL AT THE KHELO INDIA UNIVERSITY GAME The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2023 commenced on 20 february 2024 in the city was concluded today in the presence of Smt. Matsiewdor War Nongbri,Secretary Printing & Stationery, Revenue, who is also the President of Archery Association of Meghalaya, Shri Rama Shankar Ram General Manager BSNL Meghalaya, Shri Raj Kumar Giridhari Singh Finance Officer NEHU and others. The four days event would be a memorable day for the Archers who came from different parts of the Country, also experiencing the pleasant climate of Shillong. The Games went on smoothly even though a downpour was also occurred. On 23 February a final was conducted for Compound Men Individual in which Chirag Vidyarthi from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya won the Gold Medal, Adiya Dnyandev Gadadhe from Savitribai Phule Pune University MS won the Silver and Harpreet Singh Maan from Chandigarh University won a Bronze Medal. In a Compound Women Individual Mahel Pathan From Savitribai Phule Pune University MS won the Gold Medal Sunainadevi from Lovely Professional University Punjab a Silver medal, and B Manasa Nayana From Lovely Professional University a Bronze medal. Compound Mix Team, Savitribai Phule Pune University represented by Parth Sunil Korde and Mahek Pathan won the gold medal, Lovely Professional University Punjab represented by Vikas and Sunainadevi a silver medal, and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar represented by Sangarsh Dev Singh and Kiran a Bronze medal. Compound Women team Lovely Professional University represented by Sunainadevi, B Manasa Nayana, Krati Swami, and Khushboo won a gold medal, where was Guru Nanak Dev University represented by Kiran, Somanshi , Medatwal, Khusi Sharma and Anjali won a silver medal. Savitribai Phule Pune University represented by Mahek Pathan, Vaishnaveevishwambhar Ubale, Hrutuja Vinay Gate and Divya Sampat Gavhane won a Bronze medal. Compound Men team Lovely Professional University represented by Vikas, Deepak Kumar, Vishesh Vaidwan and Deepak won a Gold Medal, where was Guru Nanak dev University Amritsar Represented by Sangarsh, dev Singh, Hirtik Sharma, Amit Thakur and Mohd Shavej a Silver, Savitribai Phule Pune University represented by Parth Sunil Korde, Aditya Dnyandev Gadadhe, Soumitro Satyabhataghosh and Anuj Sanjay Patil back Bronze medal. On 24 February a final on Recurve Men individual Punjab University Patiala represented by Pawab won a Gold Medal, Lovely Professional University Punjab represented by Mrinal Chauhan a Silver medal and Punjab University Patiala represented by Jaswinder Singh back Bronze medal. Recurve women Individual Lovely Professional University Punjab represented by Somya Negi won a Gold Medal, Hemchandracharya North University Gujarat represented by Bhagaviben Vargishkumar a Silver and Ranchi University Jharkhand represented by Sabitri Kumari back Bronze medal. In Recurve Mix team, Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya represented by Amit Kumar and Kratika Bichpuriya won a Gold Medal, Kurukshetra University Haryana Represented by Shivam Kumar and Ridhi a Silver medal and Maharaja Ganga Singh University represented by Anuj Bhambhu and Pariksha back Bronze medal. Recurve Men team Lovely Professional University, Punjab represented by Mrinal Chauhan, Aditya Chaudhary, Santosh Dutta and Jashandeep won a Gold Medal. Punjab University Patiala represented by Jaswinder Singh, Robin , Pawan, and Daleep Bregar with a Silver Medal and Savitribai Phule Pune University MS represented by Kunal Vinayak Pawar, Ritesh Narendra Deshmukh, Lakhan Rajendra Bhoi, and Om Bhupal Vinchu with a Bronze medal Recurve Women Team Guru Jambheshwar University of Sci and Tech Hisar represented by Avani, Ravina, Preeti, Dikshu won a Gold medal, Lovely Professional University Punjab represented by Tisha Punia, Dikshanayak, Somya Negi and Veerpal Kaur with a Silver medal and Punjab University of Patiala is represented by Harpreet Kaur, Tanishaverma, Gurmeharkaurgrewal, and Shweta Singh with a Bronze medal. Overall best performance in men, Lovely Professional University Punjab emerged as the best and took away the trophy, Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya second and Savitribai Phule Pune university third place and in women, Lovely Professional University Punjab emerged as the best, Savitribai Phule Pune university in the Second place and Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya in third place. |
Press Release No. 55/24 MEGHALAYA CM INAUGURATES MULTIPLE PROJECTS IN WEST GARO HILLS Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday inaugurated multiple projects at Babadam in West Garo Hills in presence of Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and PHE Minister Marcuise Marak. The Garo Hills Agro Food Park is an initiative of All Garo Hills Multi Purpose Cooperative Society (AGHMPCS) led by Fr. Sunny Mavelil. The park fully funded by the State Government at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.73 cr comprises of Mustard Processing Unit, Cashew Processing Unit, Hi-Tech Food Lab, Ginger Processing Unit, Solar Power Plant and 25 Cold Storage Unit. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The State Government has outlined its mission to support farmers engaged in agriculture and horticulture. Throughout the State, the government has given its push for plantation of crops for better inputs, training on packaging, value addition and marketing of produces”.He lauded the cooperative society led by Fr. Sunny for promoting rural enterprises through farmers collective. He said that intervention to empower the farmers and cultivators will be given support to upscale their entities. The newly inaugurated Agro Food Park will process 100 MT of raw produce annually, including mustard, cashew, ginger and arecanut. Talking on government’s intervention to double farmers income in the State, he said, “In the last six years, 166 processing units, 154 warehousing facilities and 34 cold storages has been set up covering the remotest conner of the State”. He said that Integrated Village Cooperatives, Farmer Producer Organisation and Women’s collectives are being encourage and promoted by the government to create a turnaround in the rural economy. “Some of our processing unit are finest and best in the entire Northeastern region,” he added. Stating that close to Rs. 357 crore has been earmarked for value chain development in the State, he said, “The government will strengthen existing interventions and invest in new interventions to achieve the goal of more than doubling the income of the 4.5 lakh farming households”. He hoped that the Agro Food Park at Babadam has demonstrated a successful model, which will be replicated in other parts of the State. He also said that a series of farmers orientation and tours will be organised by the government for sharing of knowledge and learning from each other. He also inaugurated the Arecanut Processing unit and laid the foundation for the P.A. Sangma Shopping Complex at Babadam. MLA Arbinstone Marak and CEM GHADC Albinush Marak were also present during the inauguration programme. |
