Press Release No. 89/18 USE OF LOUDSPEAKERS PROHIBITED The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the use of loudspeakers within the District for election campaign by political parties, candidates, their workers and supporters whether fitted on vehicles or in the static position used for public meeting for electioneering purposes beyond the restricted hours from 6:00 A.M to 10:00 P.M and all loudspeakers users for election campaign must obtain permission from the Returning Officer of the constituency and local police authorities. Meanwhile it is also notified that all political parties, Candidates and any other persons using of loudspeakers on moving vehicle shall intimate the Registration Identification number of those vehicles to the authorities granting permission for using of loudspeakers and no loudspeakers shall be permitted to be used during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll. This has been done in view that indiscriminate and unfettered use of loudspeakers at odd hours and at odd places at very high volumes might cause great disturbance to the peace and tranquility and causing annoyance to the general public, the sick and the student community. |
Press Release No. 90/18 CARRYING OF ARMS AND OTHER LETHAL WEAPONS PROHIBITED The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District, has imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the carrying of arms and other lethal weapons by members of the public. This has been done in view that carrying of arms and other lethal weapons and any other activities by some members of the public is likely to lead to the commission of mischief, intimidation, threat and arbitrary curtailment of the liberty of an individual to exercise his/her right of franchise and that may vitiate to the smooth, free and fair conduct of elections in the district. Furthermore, it is notified that all the licensed weapon holders within the District must deposit their weapons in the nearby Police Station within 14 days of promulgation of this order. |
Press Release No. 91/18 SECTION 144 CRPC The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District, has imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibiting indulging in defacement of walls of public and private building by pasting of election posters, writing of slogans, painting of election symbol etc. This has been done in view that some workers of political parties and candidates indulge in undesirable activities at the time of electioneering campaign without any permission from the property’s owners. |
Press Release No. 92/18 NOTICE This is for general information of the public that the Transport Checkpoint-cum-Weighbridge at 13th Mile, Tamulkuchi, Ri-Bhoi District stands de-requisitioned with immediate effect and shall now function from 25th Mile, Shangbangla, Ri-Bhoi District for proposes of checking/weighing of all goods laden vehicles plying on NH-40. It is further informed that all transporters/vehicle owners shall mandatorily get their vehicles checked and weighed for appropriate documents as required by law. Furthermore, transporters/vehicles owners shall ensure to carry only the permissible load to avoid delay at the Checkpoint-cum-Weighbridge.
