SECTION 144 CR.P.C. PROMULGATED IN SOUTH GARO HILLS

Shillong, the 7 Feb 2011: In view of the ensuing Siju Expo 2011, the South Garo Hills, District Magistrate has promulgated an order under section 144 Cr.P.C. stating that it was necessary to ensure smooth plying of traffic on 7th to 8th February, 2011 where His Excellency, Governor of Meghalaya, Shir R.S. Mooshahary is expected to be the Chief Guest.

Meanwhile the District Magistrate has prohibited plying of coal trucks and off loaded trucks from Siju Cave to Siju market and St. John’s Sec’ School to Infiltration Gate, Siju from 4th February 2011 to 8th February 2011. Also for NH-62 Gasuapara to Siju from 6th February 2011 to 8th February 2011. The order stated this was necessitated to prevent the already deteriorated road condition into further damaged due to excessive plying of overloaded trucks over the said road.
