NOTICE

Shillong, February 1, 2013: The office of the District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District has issued a notice informing the public that as per Section 171B of the Indian Penal Code, any offer of cash, liquor or gift items to the electors during the election process is bribe. Both the persons, offering and accepting such bribe are liable for punishment with imprisonment upto one year and fine.

Flying squads and surveillance teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities during the election process.

In the event of such incidents, members of the public can contact the Complaint Monitoring Cell set up in the District at 1950 or 2222189.

EXPENDITURE OBSERVER FOR WEST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT

Shillong, February 1, 2013: The Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Khasi Hills District has informed that Mr. Manzoor Ali Ansari, Expenditure Observer for the District has arrived at Nongstoin and is staying at the Circuit House, Nongstoin. The Expenditure Observer will start the inspection of the election expenditure maintained by the candidates in connection with the Election 2013 from February 12, 2013.

The 1st round of inspection will be held on 12.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Nongstoin for 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituencies and on 13.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Mairang for 30-Mairang (ST) and 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituencies. The 2nd round of inspection will be held on 16.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Nongstoin for 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituencies and on 17.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Mairang for 30-Mairang (ST) and 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituencies. The 3rd round of inspection will be held on 20.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Nongstoin for 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituencies and on 21.2.2013 in the office of the Treasury Officer, Mairang for 30-Mairang (ST) and 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituencies.

FLYING SQUADS TO KEEP WATCH OVER CASH DISTRIBUTION DURING ELECTIONS

Shillong, February 1, 2013: The District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, Mr. Pravin Bakshi, has informed the general public that in view of the Model Code of Conduct during elections, distribution of cash, liquor, or any other items for gratification of voters is considered bribery and that both giving and taking bribe is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to one year and a fine.

He informed that flying squads and video surveillance teams have been formed and detailed for each Assembly constituency to keep watch over distribution of cash, liquor and other items in the constituencies during elections.

He also made an appeal to the general public that anybody carrying huge amount of cash, Rs. 50,000 and above, in any constituency during elections should produce the documents to show the source and end use of such cash in order to avoid seizure by the flying squads. Documents include a PAN card and a copy of the same if any, business registration certificate copy if any, copy of the cash book in case of business involving regular cash transaction and an evidence for end use of the cash, like marriage invitation, hospital admission, etc.

Shillong, February 1, 2013: The District Election Officer, West Jaintia Hills District has informed that additional phone numbers 08575063201 and 08575063202 have been assigned for the general public information to the Election General Control Room Cum Complaint Monitoring Cell and Expenditure Monitoring Control Room and Call Centre.

MIDDAY DAY MEAL

Shillong, February 1, 2013: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice under Midday Meal Scheme for L.P Schools and U.P Schools for the month of October, November & December, 2012 has been released through their respective Fair Price Shop dealers for Jowai Sadar and will be delivered free of cost to the schools by selected fair price shop dealers. Scale of issue is 3.31Kgs per student for L.P Schools and 8.24Kgs per student for U.P Schools. Necessary permit will be delivered up to February, 2013.
