KARUKOL HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL CELEBRATED SILVER JUBILEE

Shillong, 24 February 2010: The Karukol Higher Secondary school celebrated its silver jubilee at the school campus in Baghmara, Garo Hills. The staff, residents of Karukol, students and the managing committee of the school gathered at the campus to commemorate their 25 years of service, imparting education to the local children. They also held a special thanksgiving prayer to express their gratitude to their contributors especially those people responsible for its establishment since 1984. Smt. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Higher and Technical Education Minister unfurled the Jubilee flag and speaking in the occasion she expressed immense pleasure and gratitude to the organizing committee and congratulated the Karukol Higher Secondary School for their steady progress in the field of education. She urged the student community of Karukol area to come up with flying colours. She also donated Rupees ten lakhs to the welfare and maintenance of the school. She further stressed on free and compulsory primary education up to the age of 14 years and also encouraged to control drop out rate.

Other prominent guests included Shri. S. R. Marak, Local MLA, Smt. M. H. K. Marak, DC, Shri. S. R. Marak, Inspector of Schools, Baghmara, Church elders and many more.
