SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR-2007

As part of the National Science Day Celebration 2007, a two day State level Science and Environmental Fair-2007 is being held from today at the State Central Library Complex, Shillong. The Fair was organized by the State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya.

Selected school children from all the 39 blocks of the State are participating in various activities like science exhibition, meet-the-Scientist programme, science & environment quiz, on-the-spot painting, extempore speech and an exposure visit to scientific institution.

NORTH EAST AGRICULTURE FAIR

To showcase technology, development and financing options offered by different agencies which will extremely benefit the farming community, a North East Agriculture Fair will be held from 5th to 7th March, 2007 at Umiam where the State Agriculture and allied departments together with the farmers representatives, NGOs, research agencies, universities and other development and financing agencies are participating.

TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGNS AT PATHARKHMAH AND WARMAWSAW

As part for implementation of the Centrally sponsored scheme for Rural Sanitation Programme in Ri Bhoi District, the office of the Block Development Officer, Jirang C & RD Block in collaboration with the office of the Executive Engineer PHE, Nongpoh organized two Total Sanitation Campaign in the area on February 26 and 27, 2007 at Patharkhmah and Warmawsaw respectively. The Chief Guest at the two campaigns was Mr. E. Kharmalki, Project Director, DRDA, Nongpoh.

Mr. Kharmalki, in his speech, said that through this programme, people are made aware of the importance of cleanliness and the cost of sanitation especially in the rural areas. Informing that the programme is aimed at achieving “Health for All”, Mr. Kharmalki urged upon the public to avail the opportunity offered by the scheme and to extend their cooperation for the successful implementation of the scheme.
