MISSION MAVIC LAUNCHED IN EAST JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT ON 15.03.2022

With the aim to attain 100 percent coverage of beneficiaries under the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) in all villages of the District, the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri. Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, today launched the Mission MHIS Advocacy Intensification and Capturing Outliers (MAVIC Mission) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room, Khliehriat.

Shri. Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in his address during the launching of the project stated that most villages in the District have not achieve 100percent coverage under the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS Scheme) due to which the District Administration has decided to come up with the initiative to launch the MAVIC Mission by engaging the youth volunteers from different villages so as to push for more and more strength and intensification of the MHIS.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that in the first phase of the project, 32 villages have been selected for the intensification drive and he also thanked the volunteers for taking the initiative to work for a noble cause. He also said that the District Administration is also looking forward to intensifying the implementation of other schemes in the district as well and it will also require engagement of the youths volunteers and they will be selected based on their performance. The Deputy Commissioner requested the volunteers to take this as an opportunity to groom themselves to do good to the society and to join hands with the District Administration in ensuring that the Government schemes, benefits and initiatives reach out to the people with least inconvenience.

Earlier in the programme, Shri. J. Shylla, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat briefed the volunteers present in the programme about the Mission MHIS Advocacy Intensification and Capturing Outliers (MAVIC Mission) stating that it is a 2 week intensification drive wherein youth volunteers of the selected villages with low MHIS coverage/ Smart card registration will carry out a door to door MHIS registration for all the target beneficiaries so as to achieve 100 percent Coverage under the scheme. Speaking on financial incentives, he said that for those volunteers who will achieve 100 percent coverage of registration of target beneficiaries in their villages will be paid Rs. 20 per card and those with less than 100 percent coverage will be paid Rs.10 per card.
