MADHU BHASIN MEMORIAL AWARD

The Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology Hisar-125001 (Haryana) will confer an annual Award titled ‘Madhu Bhasin Memorial Award’ of the value of Rs. 11,000/- to an eminent person in the field of environment. The award is decided on the basis of original research or innovation in the field of environment, publication of scientific and popular articles or books on environment, creation of awareness about environmental degradation and implementation of one or more principles of environment at grassroot level.

Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills District who desire their names to be recommended to the University for the Award suiting the above criteria can send their bio-data to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong on or before March 26, 2007.

WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY OBSERVED AT NONGSTOIN

As part of the World Consumer Rights Day, the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Khasi Hills District organized an awareness programme on the theme “Protection of the Rights of the Consumer” on March 15, 2007. The programme was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, W. Nongsiej, who also delivered a lecture on consumers’ disputed redressal agencies. The Extra Assistant Commissioner, I. Mawlong dwelt at length on consumer courts.

Essay writing, skit competition and poster campaign on the same theme will be held on April 12, 2007 for Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools of the District.

DISTRIBUTION OF RICE FOR MIDDAY MEAL IN RI BHOI

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, has informed that rice for Mid Day Meal for the month of March, 2007 will be released with effect from 19th to 30th March, 2007. Release Orders for the same can be collected from the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Ri Bhoi District within the above period during office hours.

RECEIPT OF PARTICULARS FOR RELAY MARATHON EXTENDED

The Project Director, Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, Shillong has informed that the date of receipt of particulars from participants for the Relay Marathon scheduled to be held on April 28, 2007 has been extended to March 26, 2007.
