Press Release No. 183/17 SECTION 144 CRPC The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of 5 (five) or more persons within a radius of 500 Meters of the temporary Assembly Chamber at Rilbong, Shillong and assembly of 5 (five) or more persons within a radius of 100 Meters of the Meghalaya Secretariat (Main and Additional Building). The order also prohibits any person or group of persons from obstructing any vehicular movement in the area around Meghalaya Legislative Assembly premises and carrying of arms and any other lethal weapons or any other item/material having the potential to be used as a weapon which can likely cause grievous injury or harm to any person or persons in and around Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. The order will not be applicable to the Security Forces on duty. The order has been issued in view of the information received that on 17th March, 2017, some volunteers of the FKJGP and HYC had gathered outside the Temporary Assembly Chamber at Rilbong, Shillong and there is likelihood that a group or group of persons may organise demonstration, procession or any sort of gathering within the premises of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly during the Budget Session, and these sort of demonstration if allowed may cause inconvenience, disruption, obstruction, annoyance to the general public and may result in disturbance of the public tranquillity or a riot or any affray within the premises of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly unless immediately prevented. This order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force till further orders. |
Press Release No. 184/17 AWARENESS PROGRAMME In order to promote digital and cashless transaction, the District Sericulture Office, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar organized one day Awareness Programme on Promoting Digital Payment at DRDA Hall, Williamnagar on 18th March, 2017. It may be mentioned that the main objective is to bring a radical shift from cash to digital transactions and to push farmers to use digital payment. Hundreds of farmers from Samanda Development Block area attended the programme. District Sericulture Officer, Mrs. Sanre Momin while giving her brief welcome speech informed that the programme is to achieve the objective of educating, enabling and informing farmers about a cashless economy. Resource person, Mr. Prakash Newar, HDFC Bank Manager, enlightened the participants about accessing the basic banking services on digital payment and bank transactions by using mobile phones. Similar awareness programmes will be conducted on 22nd March, 2017 and 28th March, 2017 at Songsak and at Rongjeng respectively. |
