Press Release No. 134/11 MICRO LEGAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN HELD AT NONGPOH Shillong, March 21, 2011: With a view to sensitize the people about their rights, a Micro Legal Literacy Campaign was organized by the District Administration, Ri Bhoi District in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Legal Service Authority on 19th March, 2011 at Nongpoh Civil Hospital, Nongpoh. In the campaign, different aspects of the law are taken up which pertain to Accident cases, Motor Accident claims, etc., were highlighted by Shri C. M. Adhikari, Senior Advocate. Lecture on the provisions of Registration of Birth and Death, Marriage Laws, Maintenance, Wards and Guardianship Act was delivered by Smti. R. Khymdeit, Advocate and Sister Linda Horne, F.M.A. Mazzarello Orphanage, Mawtnum spoke on at length on the provisions and Facilities for physically challenged children. The campaign was presided over by Smti I. Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi Distict and participated by the school children of Oasis Secondary School, Orphans of Mazzerello Home, Mawtnum and others. |
