Press Release No. 85/12 JEEVAN RAKSHA PADAK AWARDS-2012 Shillong, March 21, 2012: The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, invites nominations for Jeevan Raksha Padak series of Awards-2012, namely the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak. The Award is given for meritorious acts of human nature in saving the life of a person (s) from drowning, accident cases, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines, etc. Interested Persons/ Members of the Armed Forces, Police Forces and of recognized Fire Service may send their applications in the prescribed format which is available in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong (Room No. 319) on any working day. The last date for submission of the form is 31st May 2012. |

Press Release No. 86/12 TAX COLLECTION CENTRE OPENED Shillong, March 21, 2012: The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has informed that the SMB has opened its tax collection centre for Municipal Tax payers residing in Wards No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 at the Axis Bank, Laitumkhrah Branch. Citizens residing in the said wards can pay their municipal tax either in the office of SMB or at the Axis Bank counter located at Sapphire House, Don Bosco Road, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. |
