LAPANG WISHES THE PEOPLE OF BANGLADESH ON THE OCCASION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY Shillong, March 22, 2010: “Today we are miles apart but I want to reach across the miles and say that my heart is with the people of Bangladesh in a special way on this memorable day of your country,” said Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. D D Lapang, in his message to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Independence and National Day Celebration of Bangladesh which will be celebrated on March 26, 2010. In his communiqué to Dr. (Mrs) Dipu Moni, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Lapang conveys his regret of his inability to attend the Independence Day celebration of Bangladesh due to the ongoing Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. It may also be mentioned that due to the Budget Session of the State Assembly, the Chief Minister could not inaugurate the 2nd Made in North East India Carnival on March 20, 2010 at Bangkok. He was also scheduled to inaugurate the Liaison Office of the International Trade Fair Authority of Assam in the city, in which as per arrangements with the Commerce & Industries Department of the State, an area for Meghalaya Information Centre was decided to be established. |
