Press Release No. 77/22 2 DAY JOB FAIR ORGANIZED BY THE MEGHALAYA STATE SKILL DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) has organized a 2(two) day Job Fair on the 21st and 22nd of March 2022 at the State Central Library premises for facilitating the market relevance of skill development programmes and increasing the opportunities of skilled youth. This was implemented under the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP), a program under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The fair was inaugurated by Shivansh Awasthi IAS, Executive Director, MSSDS wherein he shared various initiatives being implemented by Society towards skilling in the state.The Job Fair witnessed more than two thousand footfalls, as youth participated to explore career advice/opportunities and register themselves with 30 employers of the State in the sectors of Banking, Beauty & Wellness, Hospitality, Unarmed Security, Telecom, Fashion Industry, Insurance, and other services. Around 500 number of potential candidates has already been shortlisted during thetwo-day fair. The MSSDS will be tracking the registered candidates and intimate them on future fairs and job openings as well. Employers and recruiters are always looking for potential employees to recruit, and such job fairs provide a platform for them to hire. Similar event shall also be organized in the Garo and Jaintia region in the next few months. A Haat Bazaar is also being organized by MSSDS on 23rd of March in the same venue to facilitate the local artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase and market their produce. |
Press Release No. 78/22 CELEBRATION OF WORLD WATER DAY 2022 The Public Health Engineering Department celebrated the World Water Day centred on the theme "Groundwater-Making the invisible visible", on the 22nd of March 2022 at State Convention Centre, Shillong. The Chief Guest of the Occasion, Hon'ble Minister, Public Health Engineering Department, Shri Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, spoke on the theme and also highlighted on "the need to preserve and to ensure the sustainability of water sources in Meghalaya". Presently, water is being supplied upto the household level in all villages in rural Meghalaya. Over 2, 15,866 households have been provided with FHTCs and the aim is to provide a total number of 5, 89,888 rural households with FHTCs by December 2022. Thus, in order to assure water supply to the present and future generations as well, he encouraged everyone present including Representatives of VWSCs front various villages to take ownership in conserving the available water sources. The event was also attended by Commissioner and Secretary, Shri Syed Md A Razi (IRTS), who is also the Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission Meghalaya along with the Chief Engineer of the PHE Department, Shri. C.R. Challam and the Additional Chief Engineer & State Coordinator for Jal Jeevan Mission Meghalaya, Smt. B.M Lyndem and other officials. A presentation on the World Water Day Theme 2022 was also given by Ms. Rinku Rani Das, Scientist from Central Ground Water Board, Shillong. An exhibition was also organized with participants from different Colleges, Departments and Firms. Prizes were distributed to all winners of various competitions organized as part of World Water Day 2022. Villages from East Khasi Hills District, who have attained 100 percent Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) were also facilitated. |
