Press Release No. 87/08 PAYMENT OF HOLDING TAX The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has informed that the Review Committee on Assessment has advised all owners of residential holding whose tax has been reasonably hiked, to pay the revised tax as assessed. The Review Committee will take up cases individually in case of any grievances against the revision. Complaints and objections are to be submitted afresh by the house owners through the respective Rangbah Shnong who shall in turn forward the deserving cases for review to the office of the Shillong Municipal Board within April 15, 2008. It may also be mentioned that the tax shall take effect from April 1, 2007 but the same was kept in abeyance in view of the setting up of the Review Committee on Assessment. It is also reiterated that reconsideration will be made only on cases which have either been wrongly assessed or which have been abnormally hiked. Therefore, the Chief Executive Officer, SMB has requested all tax payers to pay their dues immediately and avail the rebate facility. Bill if not received may be collected from the office of the SMB on any working day during office hours. |
Press Release No. 88/08 LEVY SUGAR DISTRIBUTED The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has informed the public consumers of Greater Shillong that Levy Sugar against March 2008 has been released and is being distributed through the Fair Price Shops at the scale of 500 grams per head per month and at the rate of Rs. 13.50 per kg. Any non-supply or overcharging of the rate by the Suppliers may be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, with all the details. |
Press Release No. 89/08 DRIVE AGAINST ILLICIT LIQUOR In its continued drive against illicit liquor, the Excise staff of East Khasi Hills District conducted raids in the restaurants/stalls in the town and its outskirt and detected 86 cases with a seizure of 236.700 litres of ID Liquor and 26.080 litres IMFL in the month of February 2008. In this connection, 82 persons were arrested under Excise Act. |
