Press Release No. 69/21 CM MOBILIZATION SUPPORT FOR PRODUCERS LAUNCHED AT TURA The Chief Minister’s Mobilization Support for Producers was launched today at a function held at Law College Field, New Tura organised by the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA), Shillong and Tura. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma said that the Government has a clear vision and desire to transform and change the lives of the people at the grassroot level in whatever way it can and therefore, this is a journey undertaken to change individual’s life by promoting and assisting entrepreneurs at the moment which would be extended to other sectors in future. Stating that small things can make a huge difference, he said that entrepreneurs face many challenges for which the Government has started to help them by providing training, guidance including financial support by providing CMs Recognition awards, Prime Awards, and is also trying to tie up with different professional organisation to guide them so that they create more value for themselves, for the people of the State and the country as a whole. Further, lauding the efforts of the MBMA for conceptualising the Chief Minister’s Mobilisation Support for the farmers of the region, he said that there are many problems in all the sectors but most of the time farmers lack support, guidance, marketing linkages and problem of middlemen persists and hence, in order to lend support to the farmers the scheme is being launched and expressed hope that the ambitious scheme transforms the farming sector in future by providing various facilities, accessing better marketing linkages, etc. He further mentioned that in this scheme, every group consisting of ten members were given a grant of Rs. 50, 000/- and 20-member group is being given Rs. 1 lakh adding that a total of 200 crore would be utilised for the development of the farming sector in the State covering 4 lakhs 50 thousand households in the coming two years. For this, the Chief Minister urged all the farmers to register their groups and cooperate with the organisers for the benefit and progress of the farmers community in the region. Moreover, congratulating the achievement for being awarded the Padmashree Award, he announced that Rs. 2.5 lakhs each from the Chief Minster’s fund will be given to the Padmashree Awardees of the State Nanandro B Marak and Trinity Saioo. The Adviser to the Chief Minister and MLA North Tura, Shri Thomas A Sangma, Government Chief Whip, Shri Marcuise N Marak, Deputy Director, Development Spices Board Board of India, Shri Dharmendra Das, Commissioner and Secretary, Planning Department and CEO, MBMA Dr. Vijay Kumar D, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Shri Ram Singh, Padmashree Awardee 2020 and Best Black Pepper Farmer Awardee, 2019 which was announced at International Pepper Conference 2019 at Vietnam Shri Nanandro B Marak from Tilrikilla were among others who spoke on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, Swapnil Tembe, Officials of various departments, Members of Producers Group, Service Providers and Collective Marketing Centres from all the districts of the State attended the function. Earlier the Chief Guest and other dignitaries felicitated and handed over the cheques to the selected Members of Producers Group, Service providers and Collective marketing Centres of the districts and few members also shared their experiences during the programme. Further, the Padmashree Awardee 2020, Shri Nanandro B Marak was also felicitated and handed over the Certificate of Appreciation during the function. Short and motivational video presentation on the success stories of the group members were also shown during the programme. |
Press Release No. 70/21 CM INAUGURATES PRIME START-UP HUB AT TURA Meghalaya Chief Minister,Shri Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the PRIME Start-up Hub at Food Craft Institute, Nazing Bazaar, Tura today evening. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chief Minister,Shri Conrad K Sangma informed that the government has lot of expectations from the entrepreneurs of the region and in order to provide a platform for the entrepreneurs to expand and upscale their business by providing assistance, proper guidance and other facilities in a single window system, the concept of Prime hub has been created, he added. Stating that entrepreneurs face lots of challenges while starting up their business activities, he said that this centre will help to address these issues and support them by providing required skill and technical knowledge and channelize their talent in a proper manner. Moreover, he informed that the permanent Prime Hub Centre would be constructed near the Commissioner’s Building, Dakopgre which will be started in 2 or 3 months time and for the time being will function from the Food Craft Institute Campus, Tura. He also mentioned that these centres will be set up in all the districts of the state. Commissioner and Secretary, Planning Department and CEO, MBMA and Director MIE, Dr. Vijay Kumar D, Director, MIE, Garo Hills, D D Shira, Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Director General MIE, West Garo Hills, Shri Ram Singh, were among others who spoke on the occasion.
