Press Release No. 108/11 NOMINATIONS FOR TENZING NORGAY ADVENTURE AWARD, 2010 Shillong, March 4, 2011: The Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, invites application from persons having exceptional achievements in the field of adventure activities for nomination/recommendation to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India for consideration for the Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award, 2010. The Award carries a certificate, a blazer with silken tie/saree and cash award of Rs. 5, 00,000/- only. The Award aims to recognize achievements in adventure, encourage young people to develop spirit of endurance, risk taking, quick, ready and effective reflexes to challenging situations. A person should have excellent performance and have outstanding qualities of leadership and a sense adventure discipline. The adventure programme relates to air, sea and land. Outstanding achievement by the disabled people may also be nominated. Persons having exceptional achievement should sent along with their bio-data a brief write-up upto 2-3 pages with documentary proof certifying the achievements recorded by them during the last three years including those recorded upto 31.12.2009. Prescribed forms are available in the office of the Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong and the last date of submission of nominations is March 9, 2011. |
