Press Release No. 137/07 IEC ON TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGN AT NONGPOH A one day information, education and communication (IEC) programme on Total Sanitation Campaign organized by the District Water and Sanitation Committee (DWSC), Ri Bhoi District was held at the Science Hall, Nongpoh on February 5, 2007 where Mr. W. L. Mynsong, Deputy CEM, KHADC was the Chief Guest. About 170 headmen including secretaries from 70 villages of the area attended the campaign. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Mynsong stressed on the importance of the campaign adding that it is high time to create awareness on the benefits of proper sanitation. Therefore, he called upon all participants to share responsibility, taking the information received to their respective villages and to extend their cooperation so that the scheme of the government could be successfully implemented in the area and the district as a whole. Earlier, Mr. E. Kharmalki, Project Director DRDA and member DWSC gave an introductory speech about the implementation of the Total Sanitation Programme in the District. |
Press Release No. 138/07 SECTION 144 CRPC PROMULGATED The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting of holding of any demonstration, rally, taking out of any procession, shouting of slogan, carrying of arms and other lethal weapons and assembly of five or more persons within 200 meters radius of the Arts & Culture building which is the temporary Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Shillong during the budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till further orders. |
Press Release No. 139/07 HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT KYNJOIN UMRAN The Kynjoin Umran Youth Congress Unit (KUYCU) organized a one day Health Awareness Campaign at Kynjoin Umran, Ri Bhoi District on the theme “Health for All” on February 28, 2007. Chairman Meghalaya Economic Development Council (MEDC), Dr. D. D. Lapang graced the Occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang said that due to lack of response the awareness campaigns organized by the Government and NGOs from time to time ended without a result. The best part of awareness campaign on any subject begins at home between parents and children, he added. He, therefore urged upon the parents present on the occasion to start practices of what they have learn through the programme at their home. Among others who were present and spoke on the occasion included, Medical & Health Officer, Umsning, CHC, President Ri-Bhoi District Youth Congress, Mr. P. T. Tiewsoh, General Secretary Ri-Bhoi District Youth Congress, Mr. M. Syiem and others. |
