NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS

Applications are invited by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for the various National Sports Awards for the year 2017, namely, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar, Dhyan Chand Award for Life Time Achievement in Sports & Games and Dronacharya Award. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award will be given to sportsperson with outstanding performance in the field of sports over a period of immediate preceding four years during which the award is to be given. Arjuna Award will be given to sportsperson with outstanding achievements in the field of sports at international level, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar for any corporate entity, sports control boards and non-governmental organisation including sports bodies at National and State level which played visible role in the area of sports promotion and development, Dhyan Chand Award for Life Time Achievement in Sports & Games for sportsperson with good performance at international level and who continue to contribute for promotion of sports in his individual capacity even after his career as a sportsperson is over and Dronacharya Award for a coach who works full time or part time and who has produced outstanding achievements in coaching over a period of four years immediately preceding the year in which the award is to be given. Eligible persons may apply in the prescribed format available in the Sports & Youth Affairs office, Meghalaya, Shillong, enclosing their bio-data with supporting documents. Details of the award may be obtained from the office and the last date for submission is the 28th March, 2017.
