Press Release No. 112/19 MOU SIGNED TO SET UP URBAN HEALTH CENTRE AT NONGMENSONG A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up an Urban Health Centre at Nongmensong, Shillong to be managed by NEIGRIHMS was signed today between the State Government and the NEIGRIHMS at the office chamber of the Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A. L. Hek. Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, I/c Health & Family Welfare Department, Shri P. W. Ingty signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government in presence of Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A. L. Hek and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Health & Family Welfare Department, Shri Pravin Bakshi. The NEIGRIHMS was represented by Dr. Star Pala, Dr. Himashree Bhattacharya, Mrs. Ophilia Mary Kharmujai and Shri Wallambok Lynrah. |
Press Release No. 113/19 AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON EVM AND VVPAT HELD The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Government of Meghalaya organised an awareness programme cum live product demo on EVM/VVPAT for academic institutions today at Shillong Club. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya Shri. F R Kharkongor stated that the awareness programmes were ongoing campaigns conducted through out the State. Out of 3167 polling stations, 2000 polling stations have been covered through the awareness programmes, he informed. To reach out to eligible voters and urge them to exercise their votes, the Election Department has utilised all available mediums from art to music, to videos etc, he said. Shri. F. R. Kharkongor further informed that the Department will soon roll out the Queue Management App which aims to target urban apathy during polling. Through this App, voters will be informed about the state of the queue in their respective polling stations, enabling voters to come and cast their votes when the queue is not too long. Another App which will be rolled out is the Meghalaya Voters App which aims to provide information about the voter’s respective polling stations, Epic details and candidate background. The C-Vigil App which has been developed will enable citizens to click and upload pictures of any act of violation of model code of conduct. All these efforts will go a long way in ensuring free and fair elections. Shri. Kharkongor also informed that the Meghalaya Sign Bank App has already been launched to ensure that those with disabilities can also take part in the election process. A presentation on EVM and VVPAT was also made by Shri. K G Nongrum, Sr. System Engineer and videos related to Elections were also screened on the occasion. |
