DEO ORGANIZES SVEEP CAMPAIGN IN EAST GARO HILLS

With a view to spread voter awareness and voter literacy amongst the citizens of the district, East Garo Hills District Election Officer, Vibhor Aggarwal, organized a one-day Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Police Parade ground in Williamnagar on 13 April where school children, members of NGOs, Govt. officials, etc. participated.

During the campaign, BDO, Songsak C&RD Block, Tadingchi N Sangma, highlighted the need for organizing the SVEEP campaign and urged the youth of the region to exercise their right to franchise by voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The others who spoke during the campaign included BDO, Samanda C&RD Block, Tochri R Sangma, District Housing Officer, BK Marak, Tourist Officer, MC Ch Marak and PwD icon, Ringsime Sangma.

The other highlights of the campaign included Wangala dance by the members of Williamnagar Art and Culture Society, cycle rally by the members of Williamnagar Cyclists and Taekwondo demonstration by the members of Williamnagar Taekwondo Association.

The cycle rally, organized as a part of SVEEP campaign, was flagged off the PwD icon, Ringsime Sangma.

IIS MEET THE GOVERNOR OF MEGHALAYA

Ten Officer Trainees (OTs) from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, part of the Indian Information Service (IIS) Group 'A,' today paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Phagu Chauhan, at Raj Bhavan, Shillong.

Their visit is a part of their learning experience in order to gain insight into the region and its communication dynamics.

The meeting involved insightful discussions on the communication landscape of Meghalaya and the broader roles of media in public service. The visit also provided a platform for the Officer Trainees to gain insights from the Hon’ble Governor, who offered valuable guidance and encouragement, emphasizing the importance of effective communication.
