Press Release No. 179/16 PYNDENGLITHA SECONDARY SCHOOL CELEBRATES SILVER JUBILEE Pyndenglitha Secondary School, East Khasi Hills, today celebrated its Silver Jubilee which was attended by Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma as the Chief Guest and Minister, Transport, GAD, etc H D R Lyngdoh as the Guest of Honour. Speaking to a large gathering of students and elders alike in the picturesque backdrop of Pyndenglitha village under Mawphlang C & RD Block, Dr Mukul M Sangma while congratulating the founding members who assumed upon themselves the responsibility of establishing the school said that the school nestled in a beautiful valley is a manifestation of how blessed we are and to understand these blessings of nature we need knowledge and wisdom and without knowledge all will perish he added. Commending the dedication of the teachers of the school in producing good results at the SSLC examination over the last few years he said that the school has potential of attracting students from outside leveraging on the beautiful surroundings thus acting as a catalyst to expand out of congested urban centres. The Chief Minister also stated that after provincialization schools tend to decline in providing quality education because the community withdraw and pass on the responsibility to the government. He said that there is a need to ensure that schools must have active involvement of the community and that the government is taking measures in this regard. He also reminded the young students to do justice to the visions of the founding members of the school and urged the teachers to serve with the same persistent dedication and sincerity. It may be mentioned here that the school made a humble beginning in the year 1990 through the dedicated and untiring efforts of some farsighted elders of the village, majority of who were themselves illiterate. From its inception the school has been playing a pivotal role in providing quality education to the children of the area rendering valuable service to rural community. Also present at the closing function of a yearlong Silver Jubilee celebration was Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA, Umsning, MLA, Mawphlang, Kennedy Cornelius Khyriem, former Minister, Lambor Malniang, officials from the education and other line departments, students from adjoining schools and people of Pyndenglitha. |
