Press Release No. 105/22 INSPECTION OF UNION MINISTER OF LAW AND JUSTICE IN RIBHOI DISTRICT ON 18.04.2022 The Hon’ble Union Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India Shri Kiren Rijiju today visited Ri Bhoi District to review developmental works undertaking for Ri Bhoi Aspirational District on various key indicators and also inspections of some of developmental activities in villages. In the meeting held at Conference Hall DC’s office, Nongpoh, Shri M.B Tongper, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner presented a detailed overview of developmental activities and sectors in the district in the presence of Dr. Joram Beda IAS, Secretary Planning Dept. Govt. of Meghalaya, Shri Arpit Upadhyay, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Giri Prasad, IPS, SP Ribhoi, Shri RDH Kharlukhi, Deputy Secretary Planning Dept Govt. of Meghalaya, Shillong, Shri B.J Kharshandy MCS, Addl Deputy Commissioner and others. The Union Minister, in his speech highlighted on the importance of Aspirational District programme saying that the motives of this innovative programme is to speedy and effectively transform the 112 Aspirational Districts across the country. He also informed that the broad contours of this programme are convergence of central and state schemes and also competitions among Aspirational Districts through monthly Delta ranking. In addition, said that the aspirational district are ranked based on the progress they have made on various key indicators of health, education, agriculture, basic infrastructure, financial inclusion and skill development etc. Lastly, he thanked the officials and their team for their remarkable jumped in the overall rankings, from the 51th ranked in 2018, now it has come to 5th ranked from amongst the 112 aspirational districts in the country, hence, he expressed his satisfaction over the progress achieved so far and meanwhile urged them to continue rendering their services for more developmental works and try to accomplish them at a time bound and also target to achieve at the top ranking in the next to come. Later, the Union Minister proceeded for inspection at the ground level to Aganwadi Centre of Umdihar village and HWC of Umsawnongkharai village, Ri Bhoi District. |
