Press Release No. 165/10 BLOCK LEVEL SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR AT NONGSTOIN Shillong, April 23, 2010: A two day Block Level Science & Environmental Fair 2010, organised by the office of the Block Development Officer, Nongstoin C & RD Block, concluded on April 23, 2010 where the District Veterinary Officer, West Khasi Hills, Dr. W S Dann was the Chief Guest. In his valedictory speech, Dr. Dann said that environment is part of one’s life and it should be protected. Lamenting on the rampant felling of trees and mining, Dr. Dann called upon the people, especially the students, to take steps to raise their voice to save the environment. Underlining the importance of science and technology in today’s world, he urged the students to equip themselves with the advancement of science and technology so that they can be at par with the rest of the state and the country. The Chief Guest also distributed prizes to winners of many competitions which included science drawing, environmental painting, science model charts and exhibition and Science and Environment quiz whereby Anderson Higher Secondary School bagged the Best School Trophy. |
