PASSING OUT CEREMONY OF THE 49TH BATCH FA AT CTI BYRNIHAT

The Soil and Water Conservation Department felicitated around 21 trainees of the 49th Batch Field Assistant of the Conservation Training Institute at the Passing out Ceremony held on the 4th April at CTI Byrnihat.

The overall 21 Nos of trainees of the 49th Batch Field Assistant Training Course 2022-23 have successfully completed the 11 months courses of both theory and practical classes in different subjects such Agronomy, Soil Science, Botany, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Survey and Levelling, Forest Engineering, Forest Mensuration, Forest Utilization, Wildlife and others. The training have been started since 4th May 2022 to 4th April 2023. Moreover, out the 21 Nos of trainees, 12 Nos of trainees were from Soil and Water Conservation Dept Assam, 2 Nos from KHADC Dept of Forest, 3 Nos from JHADC and 4 Nos from Soil and Water Conservation South Garo Hills Division.

Shri Marcuise N. Marak, Minister in-charge of Soil and Water Conservation, Govt. of Meghalaya graced the occasion as the chief guest in the august presence of Smti I.Rynjah, Director, Soil and Water Conservation Dept, Smti M.Ch Momin, Addl Director, Smti B.H Syiem, Jt.Director, Shri A.B.S Swer, Jt. Director (HQ) and Shri O.T Lyngwa, Divisional Soil and Water Conservation Officer in-charge Soil and Water Conservation (Research and Training) CTI Byrnihat.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Marcuise N.Marak expressed his happiness to be part of the celebration for graduation of the 21 trainees Field Assistant who have successfully completed their training course. He said that soil and water are the foundation of life and in all human needs. Unfortunately, these two basic natural resources are often destructed and neglected by human beings and as a result of such action led to the climate change. Moreover, said that the impact of climate change has turned the world into water crisis, prolonged dries, increase in temperature etc. Hence, he advised that to cope with the condition of climate change, we need to develop adaptation strategies like integrated soil and water conservation practices into all development activities including infrastructure, development mining, tourism etc we need to implement a comprehensive and coordination approach to all stakeholders including government, civil society, private sector and local communities, we must work together to ensure Meghalaya a sustainable and secure water future.

Furthermore, urged the trainees to share and exercise their knowledge, information, innovation and techniques that they have received and to impart it with sincere, hardworking and dedication for the advancement of the state in terms of conservation in order to achieve a sustainable future. During the ceremony, merit certificates and trophies were awarded to the trainees who secured the highest marks in different subjects, excelled in games and sports and trainees with the best attendance during the entire duration of the course. The day also included with the release of Annual Report 2021-2022 by the chief guest and other dignataries.
