Press Release No. 157/16 DEPUTY COMMISSIONER REVIEWS DISASTER RESPONSE The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority, East Khasi Hills, Mr. P. S. Dkhar met the Incident Response Team on 6 th April, 2016 at his office chamber to review and supervise the response activities, in the aftermath of the Cyclonic Storm which has swept across Nongmensong, Mynlynrei, Umpling, Pynthorumkhrah and Nongpathaw areas flattening home, ripping down power line and uprooting trees, yesterday afternoon. In the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the officers to prioritise provision of medical aid, food, shelter and drinking water. He has further requested the Block Development Officers to coordinate the relief activities on a real time basis and to take prompt actions. An Emergency Operation Centre has been established in Shillong and toll free call may be made to 1077 or Landline Number – 0364-2502094 for any disaster related inquiries, informed the Deputy Commissioner. |
Press Release No. 158/16 SCIENCE EXPOSURE TRIP TO KOLKATA The Planning Department, North Garo Hills District, Resubelpara has sent 37 students from different schools of North Garo Hills alongwith Guide Teachers and Officers from District Planning Office, Resubelpara for the Science Exposure Trip to Kolkata from 6 th to 13th April, 2016. The exposure trip is sponsored by the State Council of Science Technology & Environment, Meghalaya with a view to provide an opportunity to school children to visit various places of scientific interests outside the state and to expose them to the latest development and achievements in the area of Science and Technology in the country, to broaden their scientific outlook through interaction with working Scientists from different Scientific Institutions and also to promote the inculcation of scientific temper among school children. The school children are selected based on their involvement in the various activities or events during the Block level Science & Environment Fair and the National Children Science Congress Programme. |
