Press Release No. 161/16 WORLD HEALTH DAY OBSERVED IN CITY As part of the World Health Day celebration, the Governor of Meghalaya, Shri V. Shanmuganathan today paid a visit to Civil Hospital and Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong. The Governor visited ultra sound section, male medical and surgical wards, female surgical ward, ENT, Oncology ward in Civil Hospital. The Governor also visited the private ward, post natal ward and pediatrics ward in Ganesh Das Hospital. During his visit, the Governor interacted with the patients and enquired about their health and treatment received from the medical staff and wishes them speedy recovery. The Governor was accompanied by Shri A. L. Hek, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Y. Tsering, Additional Chief Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Shri M. S. Rao, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Shri M. R. Synrem and Shri K.W. Marbaniang, Secretaries, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. W. Wankhar, DHS, MI, Dr. B. Mawlong, Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Shillong, Dr. T. Wahlang, Medical Superintendent, Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong. Other highlights of the World Health Day observation on the theme “Beat Diabetes-Scale up prevention, strengthen care, and entrance surveillance”includes free Blood Sugar Test in Civil Hospital and free Diabetic and Anaemia Screening at Ganesh Das Hospital and distribution of fruits packets to patients by the Governor and other dignitaries. |
Press Release No. 162/16 16 3 RD DISTRICT LEVEL INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION HELD The 3 rd District Level Industrial Exhibition organized by the office of the General Manager District Commerce and Industries Centre, Khliehriat was inaugurated today by Shri H. Marbaniang, Joint Director, DCIC, Shillong at Khliehriat East Club Compound. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Marbaniang said that an exhibition held once a year gives lot of opportunity to the entrepreneurs to showcase their different artistic skills and talents through their products which they have work diligently throughout the year. He also said through this exhibition, the entrepreneurs and their products being known by the consumer thereby facilitating our approach to them in procuring our needs arising from time to time. The exhibition also allowed everyone to witness the strength of micro small and medium enterprises existing in the district. He also said that beside agriculture, the Micro small and minimum enterprises have played a major role toward economic growth of the country. He therefore urged that much stress must be given to this sector as it not only enhances the economy but also limits the problem of employment. The handlooms, handicraft as well as other local units has really help the State to represent the rich culture and tradition of this region to various part of the world, added Shri Marbaniang. Shri Marbaniang also stated that the Central Government through the Ministry of Food Processing has announced a scheme on National Mission of Food Processing whereby huge incentive is given to Food Base Industry that can make maximum utilization of Horticulture and Livestock produce through value addition. Shri S. Paswet, GM, DCIC, Khliehriat informed that the DCIC provides various schemes for promotions Micro small and Medium Enterprise, in which holding district level exhibition is also one of the many scheme. Such exhibition is organized with a purpose to generate public awareness about the products produce by the local MSMES of the district to promote entrepreneurship and to provide them marketing support. The meeting was chaired by Shri G. Pale, FM, DCIC, Khliehriat while Shri A. F. Fancon, IPO, DCIC, Khliehriat offered the vote of thanks. |
