NEAHRD WORKSHOP UNDERWAY

Shillong, May 17, 2011: A three day workshop, especially for youth who are engaged in grooming and beauty services kick started on May 16, 2011 at the seminar hall of the North East Academy for Human Resource Development (NEAHRD). The workshop is being organised by the NEAHRD as part of its holistic skill development through trainings and total human resource development mission.

The NEAHRD was established on 28th July 2010 and since then have been actively training students and unemployed youth in various skill development activities such as basic computer skills, communicative skills in English etc. During the year 2010 NEAHRD have successfully trained 28 students. The Academy enrolls a maximum number of 20 students per subject to give them a more thorough training through personal instruction and guidance.

This time round, NEAHRD have garnered the assistance of a well known beauty specialist, Ms. Babli Gambhir of Jaora in Madhya Pradesh who has also been awarded the prestigious Cavin Kare Ability Mastery Awards to train the youth of Garo Hills. Ms. Gambhir was born with a disability but with determination she turned her weakness into her greatest strength and won the world over with. She has set up beauty salons all over the country which have been acclaimed countrywide.

Addressing the gathering Ms. Gambhir informed that she took life as a challenge and said that even though she was shunned by people for her abnormality or rather a blessing her motto in life was not “nobody likes me” but “nobody is like me”. She later urged the participants to be enthusiastic in life with a instinctive drive to achieve a preset goal.

Among others present at the inaugural session of the workshop were Mr. S. Gabriel, Chairman, NEAHRD, Mr. Meril N. Sangma, Secretary, NEAHRD, Mr. Carvel R. Marak, Treasurer, NEAHRD, Mr. K. C. Momin, Member, NEAHRD and Chairman, Tura Municipal Board and Mr. R. G. Momin, Member NEAHRD.

HAILSTORM RELIEF FOR FARMERS

Shillong, May 17, 2011: The District Horticulture Officer, East Khasi Hills has informed that a hailstorm relief to the affected farmers of the District as per list submitted by the Block Development Officers concerned will be distributed from 19th May, 2011 onwards by the DHO Office, East Khasi Hills.
