GOVERNMENT OF MEGHALAYA ORGANISES A MARATHON TO END TUBERCULOSIS IN THE STATE

To raise awareness about ending tuberculosis, the Office of the District Tuberculosis Officer, East Khasi Hills District, in collaboration with Theresa Training Centre, Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Shillong, organised a marathon on May 15, 2025. The event, themed “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,” started at the Theresa Training Centre.

Dr. B Shanpru, District Tuberculosis Officer, flagged off the marathon, emphasizing its importance and urging the over 130 participants to act as ambassadors for TB eradication by committing, investing, and delivering on the theme’s message. The flag off ceremony included key officials from Health department, Dr M B Kharshiing, Principal, Theresa Nursing college, Ganesh Das and Staff and students of the Theresa Training Institute.

Meghalaya’s efforts toward TB elimination have intensified, with a notable increase in the Presumptive TB Examination rate and a decline in TB incidence since 2015.
