Press Release No. 242/11 PENSION ADALATS SET UP Shillong, May 20, 2011: The Government of Meghalaya has set up Pension Adalats in all the District Headquarters of the State for settlement of pending pension cases in respect of retired and or deceased Government employees. The Pension Adalat shall consist of the Deputy Commissioner concerned as the Chairperson, nominees of the Accountant General (A&E), Meghalaya, Mr. Bikramjit Ghosh, Assistant Accounts Officer and Mr. Sunder Lamsal, Console Operator, Pension Sanctioning Authority/Controlling Authority/Head of Offices of concerned Department or their representatives, Treasury Officer, District Treasury of the respective Districts as Members and Deputy Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Finance (Pension Cell) Department as the Member Co-ordinator. |
Press Release No. 243/11 HEARING TO BE CONDUCTED Shillong, May 20, 2011: The office of the Justice P C Phukan Commission of Inquiry will conduct a hearing from 24th to 28th May, 2011 in the CJM Campus at Shillong in connection with the incident leading to the police firing resulting in the death of four and injury to 12 persons in Lampi/Langpih area on 14.5.2010. The Commission will sit from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM with one hour’s break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM except that on May 24, 2011, hearing shall start at 11:00 AM. |
Press Release No. 244/11 MULTIPURPOSE REHABILITATION WORKER TRAINING Shillong, May 20, 2011: Mr. A. Som, Commissioner and Secretary, Social Welfare attended the valedictory function of the Multipurpose Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) held at Shillong on 20th May, 2011. Altogether 40 Multipurpose Rehabilitation Workers from 39 Blocks in the State attended the Training held at Tura and Shillong. The training programme was divided into two categories, theory and practical in the 6 institutions engaged in the rehabilitation and welfare of the Persons with Disabilities i.e. Bethany Society, Roilang Vocational Training Centre, Joyti Shroat, Dwar Jingkyrmen, Fernando Centre For Speech and Hearing and Sanker Rehabilitaion Centre. The Multipurpose Rehabilitation Workers spend one week in each institution to help them equipped with firsthand knowledge and experience to deal with the welfare programme for the person with disabilities. |
