33/11 KV SUB-STATION INAUGURATED AT UMSOHLAIT

With a view to increase the voltage of electricity supply and to strengthen the rural electricity network, a newly constructed 33/11 KV Sub Station was inaugurated by the Meghalaya Deputy Speaker and local MLA, Mr. P.W. Muktieh on May 24, 2005 at Umsohlait under Mawhati constituency.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Muktieh expressed his happiness and said that more supply of electricity in the area will benefit the people of the area since it can be used both for domestic and commercial purposes in their everyday life. He exhorted the people to avoid unauthorised and illegal connection of electricity in order to prevent unnecessary download of power and any accidents.

Mr. Muktieh also lauded the government officers for their active involvement in speedily implementing various schemes in the area. He informed that five numbers of PMGSY schemes have been implemented under Mawhati constituency and also informed that a PWD Sub-Division too is coming up soon in the area.

FAST TRACK SELECTION FOR NE YOUTHS BY IAF

The Indian Air Force will conduct a Fast Track Selection for male youths hailing from the North Eastern States for induction into the Officers Cadre in the Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Non-Technical Branch of IAF. The selection will be conducted at the different State’s capitals of the region from June 04, 2005.

In Shillong, the selection will be held at the Headquarters of the Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong from June 4-6, 2005 from 9:30 A.M. onwards. Interested candidates may report at the selection venue alongwith two passport size photographs and all original documents.

Candidates for Flying Branch should have been born between January 2, 1983 and January 1, 1987 and must be a Graduate with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level and holder of NCC Air Wing ‘C’ certificate exam. Candidates for Technical Branch should have been born between January 2, 1978 and January 1, 1988 and must be First Class Engineering Graduates in Electronics/Mechanical/Allied Fields of study or MCA with Mathematics and Physics at the Graduate level. The candidates for Non-Technical Branch should have been born between January 2, 1981 and January 1, 1985 with Post Graduate in Arts/Science/ Commerce/Management/Computer Science.
