DRAFT PHOTO ELECTORAL ROLL OF 32- NONGSTOIN (ST) 33-RAMBRAI-JYRNGAM (ST) AND 34- MAWSHYNRUT (ST) ASS

Shillong, May 26, 2010: The Photo electoral rolls pertaining to the Assembly Constituency 32- Nongstoin (ST) 33-Rambrai-Jyrngam (ST) and 34- Mawshynrut (ST) has been published in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules 1960 and a copy is available for inspection at the office of the concerned Electoral Registration Officers, at the concerned polling stations or at the office of the Block Development Officers, during office hours.

The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll is on 1st January, 2010.

If with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection at the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodge on or before the 5th June, 2010 in Form 6, 7 or 8 as may be appropriate.

Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the office of the concerned Electoral Registration Officers or to the Designated Officers at the concerned Polling Stations or sent by post so as to reach the Electoral Registration Officer of the respective Assembly Constituencies.

SENSITIZATION CUM AWARENESS MEETING FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TOBACCO CONTROL ACT IN GOVERNMENT OFFI

Shillong, May 26, 2010: The Department of Agriculture Government of Meghalaya is taking steps to implement a smoke free environment in the department by organising a one day sensitisation cum awareness meeting for the implementation of the Tobacco Control Act by the State Government offices which includes Prohibition of Smoking etc. in public places on 26th May 2010 at the conference hall of the Department at Cleve Colony, Shillong.

The meeting was attended by the officers and staff of the Directorate of Agriculture, Horticulture and Irrigation which was chaired by Dr. D.C.Sangline, Director of Agriculture, in the presence of the Director of Horticulture, Dr. C.O.Rangad.

The chief guest of the meeting, Dr. Judita Syiemlieh, Oncologist and State Nodal Officer, Tobacco Control, Government of Meghalaya gave a presentation on various aspects of implementation of the Tobacco Control Act 2003. She also informed the need to implement this provision of the Act by all State Government offices in letter and spirit.

APL, BPL AND AAY LEVY SUGAR DISTRIBUTED

Shillong, May 26, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) East Khasi Hills has informed the Public Consumers of East Khasi Hills District, APL, BPL and AAY beneficiaries that the Levy Sugar against the month of May, 2010 has been released and is being distributed through the Fair Price Shop Dealer at the scale of 650 gms per head per month at the rate of Rs.13.50p – Rs.14/- per kg.

Any non supply or overcharging of rate by the Fair Price Shop Dealers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) with all the details.
