Press Release No. 169/22 THREE NEW FACILITIES INAUGURATED AT CIVIL HOSPITAL, SHILLONG ON 26.05.2022 Meghalaya Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri. James P. .K Sangma today inaugurated the Biological Waste Management System, 10 - bedded Geriatric Ward and P.S.A. Oxygen Generation Plant at Civil Hospital, Shillong. The programme held in the premises of the hospital, was organized by the office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Civil Hospital, Shillong. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Sangma appreciated the hard work and dedication of the medical and non-medical staff of Civil Hospital in the way they efficiently run the hospital in a systematic manner, in spite of numerous challenges. Adding that Civil Hospital, Shillong has set a high benchmark which is worthy of emulation by other District Hospitals, he stated that the inauguration of the three new facilities is an indication of the progress that Meghalaya is seeing in the state. Terming the new addition as a “new start”, he stressed on the need of replicating the same in all medical health facilities across the State. Shri. Sampath Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, while lauding the role played by Civil Hospital in tackling the Covid-19 Pandemic and enthusiasm shown in improving the delivery service of the Hospital, stressed on the need for a positive and contagious spirit to be shared by all medical and non-medical staff to bring about further transformations in the future. Informing that the Cancer wing in the hospital is now fully operational, he also said that with hard work and right attitude, Civil Hospital, Shillong can also be upgraded to a super specialty hospital in the years to come. |
Press Release No. 170/22 MSSDS EMPANELS 20 NEW LOCAL TRAINING PROVIDERS FOR TRAINING 1500 YOUTH IN THE STATE Meghalaya State Skill Development Society has empanelled 20 new Local Training Providersunder Skills Meghalayaon 26th May 2022 in a ceremony held at MSSDS office. These 20 Training Providers will impart training on 22 trades like bamboo craft, data entry operator, traditional tassel making, integrated farming, solar PV installer, hairstylist, electrician and more, covering approximately 1325 beneficiaries starting from next month. Under Skills Meghalaya Phase I initiated in the month of April 2022, MSSDS has empanelled 14 Local Training Providers (LTP) to impart training in 17 domains (data entry operator, handset repairing, integrated farming, hospitality, self-employed tailoring, general masonry, street food vendors, cane and bamboo craft, oyster mushroom, rural tourism, field technician computing & peripherals, tribal dress, rickgitok & sengki, food processing, gicha making and dyeing and weaving etc), benefiting approximately 1210 candidates across Meghalaya, the training which has already started. Now with the launch of Phase II, a total of 34 Local Training Providers have been empanelled with a target to train 2500 youth in the State. This is being implemented under Skills Meghalaya scheme launched by the honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. Conrad K Sangma on the 8th of March 2022, whichenvisions to design and implement practical programmes for youth skill development and youth empowerment. MSSDS intends to cover 20,000 youth in this year and 1.2 Lakh youth in the next five years under the three domains viz Skilling, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship to include recent dropouts, unemployed adults, persons seeking certification of their skills acquired informally and persons seeking skill upgradation. |
