Press Release No. 211/16 INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY OBSERVED The International Labour Day organized by the Sub-Divisional Labour Office, Khliehriat in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority, East Jaintia Hills District was observed at a function held at Star Cement Hall, Lumshnong, East Jaintia Hills District on 2 ndMay 2016. Shri. K. L. Nongbri, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The meeting was attended by the workers of different Cement plant situated in the District. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. K.L. Nongbri said that the objective of observing the Day is to create awareness among the workers about their rights and facilities. He also stated that the workers have greatly contributed to the growth and development of the local economy. Informing that many grievances of the workers could not be addressed, Shri Nongbri called upon all concerned to work together so that the rights and benefits of workers are not denied. Resource persons on this day were Shri. C. P. Mawkon, BDO, Khliehriat, Dr. P. Nongtdu, Principal, Jaintia Eastern College and Shri. S. Jha, Star Cement. |
