ORDER UNDER SECTION 144 CRPC

The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division, Sohra has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC restricting movement of trucks from Sohra to Shillong road from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with immediate effect except for the trucks of MCCL which are exempted from the restriction of time but to comply with the weight within permissible limit. The order has been passed in view of the reports received that trucks, dumpers and lorries are transporting limestone from various places of Sohra Sub Division to the Cement Plants of Umiam and Byrnihat in the Ri Bhoi District of Meghalaya in excess of the permissible weight of only 9 tons by any goods carrying trucks or lorry plying in the road connecting Shella and Bholaganj to Shillong via Sohra. This Order has been imposed for the safe upkeep and maintenance of the PWD (R) and for the safety and smooth passage of tourists and VIPs, office goers, and school children, etc. and to avoid nuisance caused by over loaded trucks in the absence of weighbridge along Shillong-Sohra route. This order shall supersede the earlier order and shall come into force with immediate effect upto a period of 6 (six) months or until further orders.

DISTRICT CONTACT CENTRE ESTABLISHED AT NONGSTOIN

The office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Khasi Hills District Nongstoin, has established the District Contact Centre and shall operate from Room No. 60 in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Nongstoin for the purpose of providing seamless interface and provide quality service to citizens and other stakeholders in election matters. The contact No. of the centre is 03654-280225 and it can also be contacted at Email ID dc.election.nongstoin@gmail.com. The District Contact Centre (DCC) will be available during working hours on all working days and will take all calls landing directly on it. To take all calls from NCC and SCC in English and respond promptly. To handle all the UPGRMS complaints and respond to citizens on the portal and maintain the list of all responsible officials like ERO/AERO/RO. Shri. R. Kharmujai, ASE, Shri. S. G. Marwein, DEO and Smt. B. Kharlyngdoh shall man the District Contact Centre on all working days during office hours.
