Press Release No. 130/08 CHANCELLOR OF MARTIN LUTHER CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MEETS CM Chancellor of the Martin Luther Christian University, Dr K M Shyamprasad today called on the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Donkupar Roy in his office chamber in the presence of the Deputy Chief Ministers, Mr H S Lyngdoh and Mr Timothy D Shira, Health Minister, Dr Advisor Pariong and Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Mr Manas Chaudhuri to discuss on various issues pertaining to the augmentation of Health services in the State. During the discussion, Dr K M Shyamprasad apprised the Meghalaya Chief Minister about the intention of the University to provide specific training courses to aspiring students of the State particularly in the field of Rural Health. Dr Shyamprasad said that the university would design courses and customize them according to the basic health care needs of the State with a view to meet the man power requirements in the rural areas as mid level practitioners. He said that this concept will not cost any extra financial burden to the State but in fact it will boost the manpower requirements in the rural health centres which will eventually provide better health facilities to the rural masses. After a thorough discussion, the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Donkupar Roy expresses his keenness on the concept and said that the Government would examine the feasibility taking into account all factors that may be involved in the process. |
