INDIA POST HONORS FREEDOM FIGHTERS WITH SPECIAL COVER AND PICTORIAL CANCELLATION

The Special cover (the envelope) bearing the image of Kiang Nangbah as well as his short stories in Khasi, English and Hindi while the Pictorial Cancellation is a postal seal bearing the image of the monument of U Kiang Nangbah, located at Syntu Ksiar which is official recognised by Government of India.

Officially released at a ceremony held at Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai by Local MLA and Chairman MUDA Shri. Wailadmiki Shylla. The event was also attended by CEM JHADC Shri. Thombor Shiwat, Director of Postal Services (HQ) Northeast Circle, Shri. KVL Murty, Dolloi ka Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, Anjali Verma Senior Superintendent of Post Office, Meghalaya, Shillong and other dignitaries.

KVL Murty said the released of these Pictorial Cancellation is to let the world know about U Kiang Nangbah, whose heroic struggle paved the way to the freedom we now chrish. He also stated that the Northeastern Region has been fortunate to produce many great leaders who have served the Nation.

Speaking on the occasion Wailadmiki Shylla thanked the India Post for honouring the Legacy of U Kiang Nangbah by releasing the Permanent Pictorial Cancellation and Secial Cover in his name.
