Press Release No. 224/11 WORLD RED CROSS DAY OBSERVED Shillong, May 6, 2011: Red Cross Day on the theme “Find the Volunteers Inside You” was observed at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Shillong on May 6, 2011 wherein the Governor of Meghalaya, Mr. R S Mooshahary who is also the President of the Red Cross Society, Meghalaya was the Chief Guest. Also participated in the observation were Mr. W Marbaniang, Chairman Red Cross Society, Meghalaya and Lt. Col. Vikash Vajpayee, Honorary Secretary and members of the Red Cross. Red Cross is a volunteer-led humanitarian organization with the mission to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace. The activities of the organization are to provide emergency assistance, disaster relief and education, in addition to domestic disaster relief. Other activities include hospital services, blood bank, HIV/AIDS programmes, home for disabled servicemen, vocational training centers, maternity, child and family welfare, nursing, junior red cross activities, preparedness and prevention of communicable & infectious diseases, relief operations in fire, railway & other accidents and events. Indian Red Cross has a network of over 700 branches throughout the country and is a leading member of the largest independent humanitarian organization in the world, the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement. Meghalaya Governor, Mr. R S Mooshahary in his address to the gathering said that Red Cross is one of the oldest humanitarian organizations in the world whose dedicated service has benefited millions. While appreciating the services rendered by the Red Cross Society, the Governor stressed on the need to imbibe the spirit of serving fellow human-beings and to assist the Red Cross in their services. He therefore called upon the people to rededicate their pledge in extending their cooperation and support to the Red Cross in their quest to serve mankind. Later, the Governor released the Red Cross Flag and distributed Membership Certificate to the Red Cross members. |
Press Release No. 225/11 PERSONAL INTERVIEW FOR THE POST OF GRADE IV Shillong, May 6, 2011: The personal interview for the post of Grade IV will be held on 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 30th and 31st of May, 2011 and on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th of June, 2011 in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong. Press Release No. 227/11 MEGHALAYA BUILDING BYE LAWS 2011 NOTIFIED Shillong, May 6, 2011: This is for general information that the Government of Meghalaya has notified the Meghalaya Building Bye Laws 2011. This was informed by the Secretary, Meghalaya Urban Development Authority. Henceforth, all building permission applications shall be prepared and should be submitted in accordance with the Byelaws, with provisions of rain water harvesting, soft cover, etc. The Meghalaya Building Bye Laws 2011 can also be downloaded from the website www.meghalaya.nic.in. |
Press Release No. 228/11 3 DAYS STATE MOURNING Shillong, May 6, 2011: As a mark of respect to late Mr. D. Khandu, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, all State offices through out the State shall observe 3 (three) days State Mourning on 6th, 7th and 8th of May, 2011. There will be no official entertainment during the period of State mourning.
