CM HANDS OVER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO TURA CHRISTIAN AND HOLY CROSS HOSPITALS

In an effort to provide financial assistance to private hospitals and work in collaboration with non-profit hospitals in the region, the Chief Minister, Government of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma handed over a cheque of One Crore as 1st Instalment to Tura Christian Hospital, and Holy Cross Hospital, Tura for Healthcare Infrastructure Development today at Working Womens Hostel, Mission Compound Tura. The financial assistance of 2 Crore is being provided under the Meghalaya Health Advancement Policy as financial aid to Non-Profit Hospitals in Meghalaya.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma acknowledged the immense contribution of Tura Christian Hospital and urged them to continue their quality healthcare service to the community in future. He also mentioned that there is a much larger plan to improve the overall healthcare sector and that different interventions are being made in the state for the purpose. He also informed that the Shillong Medical College would function from September, 2025 while Tura Medical College would be able to start by September 2026.

With regard to the challenges faced due to power supply in the region and although load shedding has been reduced drastically in recent times however, transmission challenges are still persistent, and added that inspite of various challenges, three new power substations are coming up in Garo Hills region, he stated.

Further, the CM Care Plus is a special project which would support the marginalised sector of the society financially with an amount of Rs. 3 lakhs to 10 lakhs maximum subject to availability of funds for critical Operation, kidney transplant or cancer related illness, he informed. He also announced that the Medical Doctors can now join in any hospitals such as Tura Christian Hospital, etc and their bond requirement would be considered as fulfilled after joining these hospitals.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Agarwal, District Medical and Health Officer, Tura Jakrambal A Sangma, Medical Superintendent, Tura Christian Hospital, Dr. Editha W Momin, DM Nephrology, Tura Christian Hospital, Dr. Benjamin S Sangma, Administrator, Holy Cross Hospital, Sister Praveena, Medical Superintendent, Holy Cross Hospital, Dr Sister Immaculate were among others present during the function.
