Press Release No. 137/08 RBI BOARD MEETS IN SHILLONG To provide an overall direction of its affairs, the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India met today in Shillong to review key economic, monetary and financial developments. It may mentioned that the Central Board meets at least once every quarter, where, apart from holding meetings in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and one meeting in New Delhi held after the Union Budget and addressed by the Finance Minister, the rest of the meetings are held in other State capitals by rotation. The meeting which was chaired by the Governor, Reserve Bank of India Dr. Y V Reddy, was attended by Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank, Dr. Rakesh Mohan, Mr. V Leeladhar, Mrs. S Gopinath and Mrs. Usha Thorat. Other members present included Shri Y H Malegam, Prof. Suresh Tendulkar, Prof. U R Rao, Mr. Lakshmi Chand, Mr. H P Ranina, Dr. Ashok S Ganguly, Mrs. Shashi Rajagopalan, Dr. A Vaidyanathan, Prof. M M Sharma and Mr. Sanjay Labroo. |
Press Release No. 139/08 INVESTITURE CEREMONY HELD The Governor of Meghalaya Dr. S. S. Sidhu gave away the President Police Medal for Gallantry to Isaac S. Marak Sub Inspector, President Police Medals of Merit to N. S. Singh AB Inspector and S. Basumatary, AB Sub-Inspector and the Meghalaya Governor Police Medals were also presented to V. Kharkongor, MPS, L. W. Nongpluh, Inspector, R. Suting, Inspector, K. Marbaniang, Sub-Inspector, T. S. Lyngdoh, Sub-Inspector, S. R. Marak, Sub-Inspector, B. K. Sangma, K. B. Chetri, B. Shangpliang and R. D. Sangma, all constables during the Investiture ceremony held today at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister i/c Home Mr. H. S. Lyngdoh, Deputy Chief Minister i/c C&RD Mr. T. Shira, Leader of Opposition Dr. D. D. Lapang and others high dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sidhu congratulates the officers and personnels who have received medals and said that these awardees have established the benchmark for their colleagues and friends to follow and emulate. Stating that peace in our state has come at the cost of great sacrifices by policemen, Dr. Sidhu paid glowing tributes to all officers and policemen who fell to the bullets of insurgents and who have made great contribution to restoration of law and order in the State. Earlier the Director General of Police Mr. B. K. Dey Sawian give the brief background on the important of the law enforcement agencies. |
