WORLD ANTI-TERRORISM DAY OBSERVED

Shillong, May 21, 2010: World Anti-Terrorism day was observed today, May 21, 2010, at the Main Secretariat, Shillong, in which Mr. B. M. Lanong, Deputy Chief Minister was the Chief Guest. Others present included senior government officials and government employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lanong recalled the death of late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India who was assassinated on this very same day 19 years ago. He highlighted the significance of this day and to not allow terrorism find a place in our State and in Nation as a whole. He calls upon every individual to help maintain peace in the State and not give shelter to terrorism.

A one minute silence was also observed as a tribute to late Rajiv Gandhi and the event concluded with the reading of the pledge.

PLYING OF COAL LADEN TRUCKS PROHIBITED

Shillong, May 21, 2010: The Additional District Magistrate i/c Khliehriat Civil Sub-Division, Khliehriat, has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of coal laden trucks beyond the permissible weight through the Bailey bridge at Malidor, Jaintia Hills District.

This order comes into immediate and shall remain in force until further orders.

DRAFT PHOTO ELECTORAL ROLL PUBLISHED

Shillong, May 21, 2010: The Photo electoral rolls pertaining to the Assembly Constituency 13 – Mawryngkneng (ST), 14 – Pynthorumkhrah (GEN), 15-Mawlai (ST), 16-East Shillong (ST), 17-North Shillong (ST), 18-West Shillong (GEN), 19-South Shillong (GEN), 20-Mylliem (ST), 21-Nongthymmai (ST), 22-Nongkrem (ST), 23-Sohiong (ST), 24-Mawphlang (ST), 25-Mawsynram (ST) 27-Pynursla (ST) and 29-Mawkynrew (ST) has been published in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules 1960 and a copy thereof is available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, at the concerned polling stations or at the office of the Block Development Officer, during office hours.

The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll is on 1st January, 2010.

If with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection at the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodge on or before the 5th June, 2010 ion Form 6, 7, 8, or 8A as may be appropriate.

Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the office of the Electoral Registration Officer or to the Designated Officers at the concerned Polling Stations or sent by post so as to reach the Electoral Registration Officer of the respective Assembly Constituencies.

DRAFT PHOTO ELECTORAL ROLL PUBLISHED

Shillong, May 21, 2010: The Officer of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Garo Hills, Tura has informed that photo electoral roll for the electors of 46-Phulbari, 47-Rajabala, 48-Selsella (ST), 50-North Tura (ST), 51-South Tura (ST), 52-Rangsakhona (ST), 56-Gaberge (ST), and 57-Dalu (ST) Assembly Constituencies has been prepared in accordance with Registration of Electoral Rules, 1960. A copy thereof is available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and at their respective Polling stations during office hours.

January 1, 2010 is the qualifying date of the photo electoral roll, so, if with, reference to the above qualifying date, if there is any claim for an inclusion for a name in the photo electoral roll or any objections to the inclusion of names or any objection to particulars in any entry (s) it should be lodge between the period of 20.05.10 to 05.06.10 in form 6,7 or 8 as may be appropriate.

The notification has also allowed that any such claim or objection should be either presented in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election) not later than the aforesaid date or to the designated Officer in the complainant’s respective polling station or by post send to the respective EROs so as to reach the office not later than aforesaid date.

IMMUNIZATION

Shillong, May 21, 2010: The Office of the Additional District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills, Shillong under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) will conduct the ‘Observation of Special Immunization Week’ from 24th May, 2010 to 31st May, 2010 (1st Round) and from 5th – 12th July, 2010 (2nd Round) throughout the district of East Khasi Hills. Therefore all parents are requested to bring their children for immunization to the health centres or the session sites arranged.
