CANDIDATES ELIGIBLE FOR INTERVIEW IN MEGHALAYA POLICE DECLARED

The Inspector General of Police (TAP) cum Chairman, CRB, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that the list of candidates eligible for personal interview for various posts in Meghalaya Police as published on 17th May 2017 was drawn by adding the marks of Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Bonus Marks and Written Examination. The marks for PET were published in Meghalaya Police website every day after completion of the test and are still available in the website. The list of candidates eligible for interview was prepared taking into consideration the reservation policy of the Government of Meghalaya. The candidates are hereby informed that the Answer Keys to all the question papers have been uploaded in the website and a copy of their OMR sheet showing their response during the written examination has been given to them on the day of the examination. Candidates may verify their marks by cross checking and comparing their answers with the Answer Keys. Any complaint/grievance should be submitted to the Principal, Police Training School cum Member Secretary, CRB, Meghalaya, Shillong on or before 5.00 pm of 26th May 2017 after which any complaint will not be entertained. STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON MHIS-PHASE III

The Office of the Chief Executive Officer, Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) organised a one-day State Level Workshop on MHIS Phase –III at Yojana Bhawan Auditorium, Meghalaya Main Secretariat in the city on Monday. The inaugural programme of the workshop was attended by Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Smt. Roshan Warjri as Chief Guest in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri. Y.Tsering, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department & CEO, MHIS, Shri.H.M Shangpliang, Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr.Pooja Pandey, Deputy Commissioners, DHS (MI), Dr. R.O Budnah, DHS (Research) Dr. M. Nonghuloo,DHS (MCH&FW), Dr.D.Lyngdoh, DMHOs, Government officials and functionaries from various Districts and Sub-Divisions, Doctors, representatives from Insurance Companies and others. During her address at the inaugural function, Smt. Roshan Warjri congratulated all stakeholders involved in the implementation of phases I and II of the MHIS further stating that the Workshop is the right platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences which may be incorporated in the implementation of the third phase of the MHIS. Highlighting on the challenges that require attention in order to be able to implement the Scheme efficiently and successfully, the Minister spoke of the need to set up Help Desks at all empanelled hospitals to assist smart card holders. She also stated that more awareness needs to be created at the grassroots level, especially those in the remotest parts of the State to facilitate their enrolment in the scheme since “uplifting the socio-economic condition of the people involves improvement of their health condition”, she added. Smt.Warjri on the occasion also stressed on the need for more Training and Capacity Building programmes and sought the co-operation and co-ordination of all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Scheme while also expressing hope that the intended target of achieving maximum coverage would be achieved. During the programme, the Minister also launched the Website of the MHIS and handed over awards as a mark of recognition to the exemplary efforts at implementing the previous phase, namely Phase-II of the MHIS by concerned stakeholders at various levels. Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri. Y.Tsering in his address spoke of the need to widen the coverage under the Scheme, especially to the far flung rural areas of the State who require most attention. Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department & CEO, MHIS, Shri.H.M Shangpliang meanwhile informed that the enrolment process for Phase-III of the MHIS would commence from the first week of June onwards across the State. The inaugural function was followed by presentations on various aspects of the MHIS including Claims Monitoring, Medical Records Maintenance and Fund Utilization etc.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY OBSERVED IN THE STATE

Along with the rest of the world, Meghalaya today observed the International Day for Biological Diversity under the theme: “Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism” at a function held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The programme was organised by the Meghalaya Biodiversity Board (MBB) and the Department of Forest & Environment, Government of Meghalaya. Additional Chief Secretary i/c Forest & Environment cum Chairman, MBB, Dr. Shreeranjan graced the function as Chief Guest. The programme was organised in order to generate awareness among the people particularly the student community on the rich biodiversity of the State and the importance of preserving it. Dr. Shreeranjan in his speech stressed on the need to maintain a balance in the biodiversity to have a sustainable ecosystem. He said that the sustainable ecosystem can be achieved by imbibing values and respect for the nature and environment among the community and the younger generations. As human beings we have a huge responsibility of maintaining and preserving the environment for future generations, he added. Praising the initiatives taken up by the people of the State towards preservation of wildlife and endangered species, the Chief Guest suggested on the need to initiate ‘CrowdSourcing’, where the findings of a new species by a person can be documented for further analysis while also urging upon the fellow citizens to explore the unknown and sent it to the MBB for documentation, which will not only help in the identification of new species but will also act as a thrust towards preservation of the rich biodiversity of the State. During the function, the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries released the Coffee Table Book, titled ‘Sylvan Mosiac’ and Posters on ‘Threatened Mammals of Meghalaya’, ‘Wild Edible Mushrooms of Khasi and Jaintia Hills’ and ‘Butterflies of Meghalaya’. The Biological Diversity Act, 2002, Biological Diversity Rules-2004, Meghalaya Biological Diversity Rules-2010 & Guidelines for operationalization of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in Khasi and Garo languages was also released during the function. The Chief Guest also handed over the Best Soldier of Conservation Award, 2017 and distributed prizes to the winners of drawing, painting and essay competitions. Earlier, Secretary, MBB, Shri M. B. K. Reddy gave a power-point presentation on the salient features and achievements of the MBB. Former Forest & Environment Minister, Shri J. M. Pariat, PCCF & HoFF, Meghalaya, Shri C. P. Marak and Secretary, MBB, Shri M. B. K. Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
