ARRANGEMENT FOR OPENING OF ESSENTIAL SHOPS AT IEWDUH

In view of the prevailing situation of COVID-19 pandemic and in pursuance to the Government Notification dated 28th April, 2021, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills in an Order issued on 2nd May, 2021 has made the following arrangements for opening of essential shops at Iewduh during the containment period w.e.f 1st to 10th May, 2021.

Wholesale fish stall and vegetable shops will open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except on Sundays. Fruit shops will open on a rotation basis @ 8 shops per day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and grocery wholesale shops will also open on a rotation basis @ 11 shops per day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Incident Commander, Zone-IV and the Syiem of Hima Mylliem will regulate the opening of the above shops.

All shopkeepers are directed to strictly follow the health protocols which include maintaining physical distance between customers and avoid crowding at all times, avoiding hand shaking or direct contact or hug each other in greeting. Customers are directed to wear mask all the time while purchasing things from the market and to practice hand hygiene and physical distancing. Shopkeepers and vendors must wear mask properly by covering their nose, mouth and chin part of the face at all times.

The Market Committee under the Syiem of Hima Mylliem is authorized to levy fines on shop owners/people who does not adhere to the COVID-19 protocols or spit in open/public places. The committee must ensure that regular sanitization of the markets are carried out before and after business hours and that frequently touched parts like door handles/knobs are regularly cleaned. Market committee must ensure that customers bring their own bags and avoid the use of plastic bags as much as possible to minimize the chance of spread of the virus as it lasts longer on smooth and non-porous surfaces in comparison to porous surfaces like cloth.

Customers are advised to spent minimal time at a shop so as to avoid cross infection. Markets must also encourage cashless transaction, wherever feasible to minimize direct contact.

REVISED ORDER FOR CURFEW, CLOSURE OF SHOPS AND OFFICES

In view of the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in the district and in partial modification to the earlier order, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has hereby imposed night curfew from 8:00PM to 5:00AM daily in East Khasi Hills District. This order will come into force with effect from 4th May, 2021. Further, for effective Containment Measures to slow the spread of COVID – 19 Pandemic all shops and establishments in Shillong Urban Agglomeration shall remain closed by 7:00PM daily with effect from 4th May, 2021. This order exempts Pharmacies and Pharmaceutical stores which will open as per existing order, Petrol Pumps (permitted till 10:00PM) and Home delivery of food items (permitted till 10:00PM).

Meanwhile, Home (Political) Department in an order issued on the 3rd May, 2021has declared all offices (Central, State, Private, Banks, Post Offices, etc. in Shillong Urban Agglomeration areas shall close by 4:30PM daily and shall also remain close on Saturdays with effect from 4th May, 2021 until further order
